deathevocation
I've got a hip flask bottle of the green label which is 86 proof and states it is 8 years old on it. Haven't opened it. Looking around online the green label is currently 4 years old. The bottom of the bottle has the following numbers on it (28 with an underscore, 91, 44 and 18). If this bottling is no longer produced, does anyone know when production ceased? I've emailed Kentucky Bardstown with the same question.
White Dog
That's certainly a dusty. Johnny Drum green label is now 80 proof, I believe, the black label is 86, while the Private Stock is 101. Both the Green and Black are 4yr, while the Private Stock is NAS. Not sure when they dropped the 8yr, but I'd guess it was some time ago. If your bottle was bottled around 91, as the numbers may suggest, that may be some nice glut era juice. I believe Willett went silent in the early 80's, so it's probably sourced juice, but who knows? It may actually be Willett juice. Please let us know what you think of the Bourbon.
deathevocation
Will do. The store I bought it from had a lot of bottles too.
tmckenzie
seems like I read in a Jim Murray book in the late 90's that that bottling was willet juice. Send it to me for testing.
deathevocation
I had a glass during the week. Was ok though it did have some burn. I then had a glass last night whilst drinking some other bottles (nothing special - Virgin, Bulleit) - it was third in line easily. I'm not very good at describing taste so will leave it at that.
