RyanL
So I am new here and looking for a few good liquor stores just for some stuff like OWA, etc... Most of the smaller ones have nothing.
RyanL
Also the closer to downtown LA the better.
sku
There is not really anything good downtown. Your best bets would be K&L in Hollywood or Cap N Cork market in Los Feliz though the latter tends to be expensive.
humchan2k
K&L is really the only joint you need to go for....they have everything you could want, about 90% of the time, and their prices are by far the best in town.....the team of guys running the place are very dedicated and try to stock awesome, rare things all the time.....and their selection of amaros is fantastic. My runner up location is Vendome on Olympic near Beverly Hills, their selection is fab, they have a deli and a cigar shop...but you'll pay an extra $3-4 per bottle for the privilege....but I've found some of the best stuff there. Scooter
My first post! Another vote for K&L, but there are other good choices (but not near downtown): Topline Wine and Spirits in Glendale, The Wine House in West LA, Beverage Warehouse in Marina Del Rey, and furthest away, but with the best prices, The Wine and Liquer Depot in Van Nuys. Now if only I could get a steer towards some dusties in LA...
RyanL
Thanks guys, I'll check out k&l later this week. I really just need to pick up a few of the staples to have around til I get my better stuff back home out here.
jeanraulmitchell
I concur with K&L being the best store in town without question, but I also go to Mission every now & then if I'm close and they have OWA. Mission is often overpriced on buffalo trace things, $100-130 btac, $50 ORVW and at least $100 for PVW 15 but they are competitive on lower end bottles. Other places I go are beverage warehouse, liquor depot and occasionally I stop at cap'n cork.
jeanraulmitchell
& Ramirez liquor is almost downtown. Oh, and there is a shop downtown called Gourmet Wine & spirits.

Vendome is solid for bourbon and has a boring scotch selection. Wine & House is pretty good. 20/20 Wines is overpriced and lackluster (2 blocks N of Wine House). I haven't been to Wine & Liquor Depot in quite a while... it's been underwhelming the last few times. The indies have been dying off like crazy there... unless they've heard the disappointment and restocked recently? If you've got a craving to drive to OC I still love Hi-time. They run occasional crazy specials that virtually mandate purchasing by the case.
