Cpdaddyo
Just heard that Woodford will have a new offering on March 1: "Double Oaked". The theory is, twice the wood, twice the flavor. Rather than a special, like the ryes from this year and the four grain offerings in the past, this is supposed to be the first extension of the brand. Woodford is one of my "go to" drinkers and the new offering sounds promising.

bourboncc
It sounds interesting to me as well, as long as it isn't an oak bomb.
Bmac
Yup, they have been using their master collection series to test market new techniques. The double oak is standard Woodford that's been aged an additional year in new oak. However, the new oak has been treated differently. It's been toasted twice as long and lightly charred. This should give it more buttery, caramel notes. They say its due for release in March. It's on my radar.
Gentleman Racer
On my radar too. Not a big fan of regular Woodford, or most of the Master's Collection, but the Seasoned Oak release was my favorite of those. I this Double Oak is going to emulate that. Bourbon Boiler
I think I'd really be looking forward to this, if not for the low (90.4) proof.
JayMonster
wondering if I would get the same overall effect by vatting the WR I have languishing in the cupboard with some Devil's Cut.
BigRich
BF was kind enough to send over a review sample and it is quite nice. I'm not sure if it's $50 bourbon or not but it's much improved over regular Woodford.
Enoch
Current WR is a mix from the WR distillery and BF distillery. I had heard that they would eventually offer a straight WR bourbon. I wonder if this will still be a mix or all WR pot still bourbon.
mrviognier
When I heard about this, I was instantly reminded of what I used to tell my winemaking clients..."Oak is wood. Wood is a picture frame, not the picture." That said, had a taste of this over last weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Very nice, well-integrated, too. I'll grab a bottle when it comes out. TheDude
Just received an email from Woodford that bottles will be available starting tomorrow. Only catch is you have to pick them up at the distillery's visitor center in Versailles.Fortunately, I work 20 minutes from there!!
Old Lamplighter
I've been disappointed with WR lately, so I'm going to pass on this one too. After the last 2 bottles some time ago, I have been on the same bus for a while now. In fact, it has held me back from giving Angel's Envy a try....which probably is a bit unfair on my part since it is a totally different animal. Bourbon Boiler
Is the distillery offering a tasting of this along with (or instead of) the regular WR on the tour?
StraightNoChaser
I'm sure I'll be tasting this at work soon. However, I'm also sure I'll hate it like all other BF whiskey :hs:
Moretorque05
I ordered 2 bottles online the other day. Hopefully they will get here tomorrow. I am very excited to give it a try.
Bmac
BTW, for you folks in Texas, I spoke to a distributor source this afternoon and we won't be seeing this release until next month Ugh...Texas is just not lucky for bourbon releases.:hot:
mosugoji64
I was able to sample this over the weekend and enjoyed it quite a bit. Always thought regular WR was a little flat and uninteresting, but this one has some character. The wife thought I should go ahead and pick up a bottle, so who am I to argue?
