I have some vouchers that need a spending at a particular store. Some of the better drops on offer are:

Woodford Reserve

Bakers

Evan William SB 2000

Wild Turkey 12 year 101

JD single Barrel (more pricey)

Buffalo Trace

I believe there may be a WT rare breed as well, but try as i might i just dont think im a fan. Im not sure if this rules out the 12 year also (never tried it).

Any standouts here?

Is this a trick question?

WT12 is so superior to the others I'd get as many of them as possible. What's their price and the behind this?

If you can get WT12 you're a lucky guy.

Good luck.

I'll echo the WT 12 choice. The stuff is hard to find around here and is truly superb.

Wow WT 12 year? Lucky, lucky. Go for that for sure. For what it's worth, Baker's is good stuff to me. Best of the Beam Small Batch IMO.

Not to intentionally thread hi-jack, but what's the difference between WT 12yr and WT American Spirit 15yr? I had never heard of the 12yr before and there didnt seem to be much love for the 15yr.

The Wild Turkey American Spirit is bottled in bond. That's one difference.

I'm sure others will chime in, but in a nutshell, the 12 was better.

I have 3 bottles of WT 12 yr split label and it's fantastic I buy every bottle I can get my hands on. It has a nice woody taste to it. It's not made any more It's great stuff. I have a bottle of the WTAS I like but I'm not sure I like it better than than the WT 12 yr split label but I'm glad I have it.

Like OX said every bottle is a learning experience.

Since things like OGD have left me dissatisfied (to be polite), I tend to shy away (OK, completely avoid) things with a High Rye content. but I have to admit, hanging around here has me rethinking that and making me want to pick up some up and give it a try.

LoL, Ibam in agreement about OGD. There are a number of uncomplimentary descriptors I could provide for that product. It actually ruins coke, if that's possible.

In regards to high rye content, have you tried any rye whiskeys, such as Rittenhouse RyeBIB?

lol ok cheers guys. Let me hope it hasn't sold out in the last 2 weeks then! Is it similar tasting to Rare Breed though?

FWIW i am in Sydney Australia, so this must be quite a rare thing when it seems so hard to get in the US!

Hah, you're in Australia....we all thought you were talking about the now-extinct US version.

I'm sure the export-only version you're seeing is good but I don't think it's as good as the old stuff.

IMO this does not change anything other than it's a 700 mL bottle.

Do you think its the same juice, or that even if it isnt its still better than the other options?

So i bought the 101 12 year and had a little tipple. It doesnt have that sweetness i like, but i think that is to be expected from WT. It almost tastes like a scotch to me, although smoother at its 50.5% than many scotch blends at 40%.
