redbear
Old Pogue did a website redesign. The history section has a gallery of some old labels and advertisements, which I found interesting. I read that a Pogue family member says they are bottling a rye now.http://www.oldpogue.com/

Gillman
Thanks for that, the historical material in particular - especially the late 1930's brochure and old (filled) bottles - is fascinating. The distillery produced quite a range before WW I. Most or all were straight whiskeys judging by the names. There were a couple of bourbons. One of them was actually called sour mash copper-distilled old time whiskey but I'd guess it was truly bourbon. There were also a couple of ryes and a wheat whiskey. These were distillery brands but the company also produced much whiskey for the private label market according to the brochure. The brochure struck a perfect balance between evoking pre-Pro traditions and the interest to use modern engineering where it made sense, e.g., it noted distilling in the summer became possible because refrigeration was installed. All excellent stuff as is the current bottling issued by the revived (but not distilling yet I believe) business.I liked too the pictures of the old distillery which give a good idea of what the Maysville area, originally called Limestone Landing, looked like just outside the town. Then as now the area is largely pastoral and very pretty.Gary

Peter_Pogue
In case you are interested go to the Maysville-Ledger online.com. The cover story may be of interest. White dog, I can surmise a reason why you think the new rye would be 95% rye, but, unfortunately, you are off by 5%. Our new product, distilled in Maysville by, yes, us, is a 100% single malt rye aptly named...Limestone Landing. Our distillery is now open for tours, tastings, etc. It has been a very long time since we posted on sb.com, mainly by design, as we have been working to complete our new operations. We started distilling back in February and our new product should be ready for release by mid June. We have also filled barrels with the rye which is now aging. Most of our new products will likely be available only at the distillery. If you ever get over that way, stop by; the historical documentation that we have framed from our great great grandfathers' original recipes, our great great grandfathers' original pilot still, to letters to our grandfather from George Remus, to many of the brochures and advertisements you are referring too, are all on display. The entire area is rich with history and we are looking forward to seeing all of our friends from sb.com.Peter Pogue
