emil
Newbie question here. I just ordered a few bottles of the 15 and 20 from this year's spring release. Was wondering if these are bottled in the fall and held until the spring or if this is a new bottling.Has anyone tried these yet? Any first impressions compared to the 2011 release? Clavius
Check the laser-engraved code on the bottle to find out when it was bottled. Then read this thread: http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16711

clingman71
My fall release 15s were easy to read, but I don't see any date on my spring 20.

Stormeh
I couldn't find laser codes on my recently acquired bottles of Saz 18 circa 2002. Should these have laser codes?
silverfish
I couldn't find laser codes on my recently acquired bottles of Saz 18 circa 2002. Should these have laser codes?Saz is not part of the PVW line. I have not heard of bottle codes mentioned for Saz (or any BTAC) but that doesn't mean they aren't there. Any first impressions compared to the 2011 release?I have not tried the new release yet- but this spring date code is different. it now will read something like B1202608:04. I think this shows bottled 2012 February possibly 6th at 8:04 AM tho I could be wrong.Cheers, RW

As to BTACs, I think they generally have the same time stamp as Van Winkles, though I don't know when they started putting them on.
luther.r
Has anyone tried these yet? Any first impressions compared to the 2011 release?I've had some of the 2012 Pappy 15. My impression is that the profile is very similar to the fall 2011 release, but I haven't done a side by side.

StraightNoChaser
Tis the season to drive to 20 stores to secure a handful of bottles of overhyped bourbon marked up to eBay prices :skep:
dohidied
Thanks for reminding me. I went to see my local whiskey longer with reasonable Pappy prices to reserve a few bottles. Hopefully it comes in next week.
