I would rank the E H Taylor's in this order:

Tornado

SB

Sour Mash

But the Sour Mash was the most interesting so far there is one coming that might beat it out, the E H Taylor original recipe.

1. Tornado

2. Sour Mash

3. Single Barrel (the sample I tried just might not have been very good)

Whichever I find on the table in the Gazebo is my favorite.

I haven't gotten to try the sour mash, but I like the Tornado better than the Single Barrel. That said I do like the Single Barrel very much.

Only tried tornado and single barrel and the tornado is well above the SB

I'd rank it nearly into pappy level - nearly

I am going to agree with most of the posts here and rank:

Gold: Tornado

Silver: SB

Bronze: Sour Mash (Even though the story makes the bourbon taste better)

Going with what seems to be the popular opinion and ranking the Tornado as easily the best of the three. Not impressed with the other two.

Not overly impressed with any of them for the $$$. I like the Sour Mash the best. I found the Tornado the weakest. I am wondering if we may be seeing some fairly wide batch variation given several folks I know love the Tornado.

If you believe what BT said that there were barrels that were between 9 and 11 years old.... Given that they can only batch the ones distilled the same season to adhere to BIB regulations... there would definately be a digfference between the 9 yr batch and the 11 year batch.

Scott, I am rounding up a few samples to compare... should be interesting to see how much variation there is between bottles/batches..

Reid, is there a way to tell what age/batch a particular bottle is from?

John, not that I can tell which really complicates the issue. I will be comparing a sample from Steve in Florida which he really likes to one a friend has here in Va. which we both found just so-so. I know you really like the Tornado and that typically would bode well for me liking it.

I don't believe BT. I bet someone screwed up and batched the whole lot, 9 and 11 years all together.

Quick, somebody ask Harlan. :skep:

He did say no more Tornado after this year and they are removing it from the barrel program:grin:

Are there bottle codes on it? Maybe that would be a way to distinguish batches.

Here's the bar code from my bottle (which I rate excellent):

100% with you brother. I find it hilarious that a product dedicated to the guy who pioneered the BOB act would violate the rules by mingling whiskeys from different seasons. The whiskeys is good and u gotta love 100 proof expressions and no one is going to raise a major stink. least of all the BATF (unless wade sends them an email):stickpoke:
