What bottle do you keep in your office?

A day like today makes me wish I had something in here. I did keep a 375ml bottle of the most recent Binny's ER10, but I ended up taking it on a trip (and won't be buying it again). It's rare that I want or have the opportunity for a drink during a work day, but today's one of those rare days.

Who keeps a bottle in their office? For those of you whose office is your car... nevermind...

I had a 50ml of E&J XO brandy in my jacket today that I got from a customer. Does that count?

No. No it does not. Did you drink it?

Highland Park 12 and Blantons. The bottles are short, so they fit in upright the desk drawers.

No, I was planning on sampling it for educational purposes, but I put my jacket in the closet without remembering it. I'll have to save it for another day.

My bunker is here at the office. So I guess I keep Pappy, BTAC, tequila and few hundred bottles of wine.

Ah. I guess you're living the dream, eh? I'm sure plenty of people work from home and so have access to their entire bar as well.

And I would imagine those of you involved in the wine and/or spirits business wouldn't have to look too far beyond your desk to find something to sip.

Some nice choices here...

With a teatotolling CEO, it would mean my immediate dismissal, so I do not have a bottle in my desk. I do however keep a few 50 ml bottles of JBB and MM in my laptop bag along with a collapsing cup.

None! I work for our State Government and it's a sackable offence to have (open) alcohol in the workplace.

Depends on the month. Currently I have an Old Ezra 7yr. I tend to stick with solid but not flashy at work. OGD is also in the work rotation.

Funny, when you are around it all the time, you don't find yourself reaching for it too often. Or at least I don't. That said, it sure is nice to have options when that moment does strike.

I have tons of stuff in my office. And lots of time I have a rough Friday afternoon and am glad I work in a distillery.

My main office is home, so I have access. But due to governmental and workplace regulations I cannot imbibe while working if I want to keep my job.

Office #2 is the car.... same thing....

Office #3 is the smoking lounge. They told me the other day no open bottles, but they will not look in my cup. Fortunately after 5pm I don't want to smoke there, I'd rather be home where I can smoke and drink all I want.

Exactly. It can be dangerous to work around alcohol if u can't limit yourself. I've seen it take a lot of good men down. No liquor in my office but tons down in the bars

Many places to hide it and many instances when it would be beneficial, but if I got caught tipping a bottle at work I would be sh*tcanned before I could swallow. Can't really complain, though. A healthcare setting isn't really where you want to see people drinking.

How does the joke go?

"My daddy always said, 'the day I can't do my job drunk is the day they take away my badge and gun.'"

Zero tolerance in my workplace, too. Too bad, I could have used a snort this week.

Zero tolerance in my industry (clinical laboratory) as well.

There was a time when alcohol use was common in hospital. In fact my first professional employer had "liver rounds" on one Friday afternoon a month. This was a social gathering of the big shots in the board room.

In the 70's when the lab had a party, the pathologists would supply the alcohol that most freely drank. The chief pathologist would have the diener get a bottle for them to share in the autopsy room. Since the chief was Canadian he usually got Crown Royal. Those days are forever gone.

At one time I had full access to non-denatured pharmaceutical grade ethanol for use in the lab. All I had to do was got to where it was stored and get it. Use was not documented.

Right now I don't have bourbon in my office but a blended malt, great king street.

Let's see, in the past there has been GTS ORVW107 but I usually keep a single malt in there, that way I don't drink too much. If I have ORVW107 in there I'll be drinking as soon as I walk into my office, hence scotch.

An older coworker was reminiscing today about when there was a bar next door. He was laughing about the days when certain Irishmen would have an Irish coffee before work, go have some beers every couple hours, and drink after work until they passed out in their cars. It might be entertaining to see how a day was like this, but it doesn't sound like much fun. For the record, I sell wholesale produce and we're so sleep-deprived it's like half of us are drunk sometimes.
