Brisko
Does anybody have a list of bourbons and ryes that are less than four years old? I know there are several legacy brands that have been relegated to bottom of the bottom shelf status and I'm curious if anybody finds them at all drinkable? Here are the ones I can think of off the top of my headCabin StillOld CrowAncient AgeHeaven Hill Ultra DeluxeRittenhouse 80 proofStephen Foster RyePikesville RyeAs far as I know all of those are three-year-olds currently. I'd guess the ryes fare better than the bourbons in terms of drinkability. I've had Cabin Still and Old Crow and there's not much to be said for them. Cabin Still might appeal to someone who enjoys corn whiskey; it's very corny and raw, and not very sweet. That's the best I can say about it.Anybody have a different experience? And feel free to add to the list.

The other two are just crap.Anybody have a different experience? And feel free to add to the list.As far as I can tell, at the very least, Rebel Yell is 4 years old. I have only tried it once, and wouldn't have called it crap, as much as... Very Boring. It reminded me of some Canadian Whiskies I have tried... Flavorless and boring... Almost closer to a brown xolored Vodka.
Brisko
You're probably right. I'll edit my post to reflect that.
sku
I believe Early Times Kentucky Whiskey is also 3 yo.I like Pikesville. Very nice stuff for the price.
dohidied
I can still buy the Willett Rye 3 year at Costco.
Bourbon Boiler
You could do worse than Old Crow. You could certainly do a lot better, I'm just saying you could do worse.
tmckenzie
I enjoy younger whiskeys. On that list the ryes listed and AA is a good pour.

JayMonster
Are we sure about this list? I can't recall an age statement on Cabin or AA, but I could be wrong. My current Pikesville shows 36 months, while my current Stephen Foster states 30 months.
White Dog
While I can't find it on any pictures of the label, multiple sources put Ancient Age at 36 months.Cabin Still however appears to be 4 years old.
JayMonster
If AA is 36 months, then it must state it on the label.

Brisko
I can still buy the Willett Rye 3 year at Costco.yes, but this is more of a one-off, where these others are in regular production. Are we sure about this list? I can't recall an age statement on Cabin or AA, but I could be wrong. My current Pikesville shows 36 months, while my current Stephen Foster states 30 months.I'm not sure about the list but Cabin Still is definitely "fully aged for 36 months." There are oceans of this stuff in my marketplace and I just bought a bottle this fall.

dohidied
If AA is 36 months, then it must state it on the label.I bought a 200ml of AA a few months back and it said 36 months old on the back label.
Brisko
I've got a bottle of Cabin Still. It's not that bad.I agree with you but I can get HH BiB for not much more $ plus it's 20 degrees higher proof. But yeah, if you like your whiskey young and corny, with no noticeable wood influence, it's not bsd.I could be wrong but it doesn't taste like a wheater either. Brisko
Not to turn this into a Cabin Still thread, but a COLA search reveals that in a couple of COLAs from February 1993 where this was listed as 45% abv. The images aren't available so I can't say if there was an age statement. In April of that year two more COLAs show up where it was listed at 40%. These were all listed as DSP-31 products. If I go back to the mid 80s it appears that there are COLAs for both 80 and 90 proof versions. There are COLAs from '05 and '06 that have the 36 month age statement on the back label and both are 40% abv. Brisko
I bought a 200ml of AA a few months back and it said 36 months old on the back label.I checked out the bottles at my local store and they were NAS. But the bottom of the bottle had a "10" so possibly these are a couple years old.I'll check around.
Young Blacksmith
look at the neck band. That's where the 36 month statement is, not on the main label.
