bobbyc
We've done various incarnations of this at SB.com. Here goes. Your carry on luggage only allows you to bring 10 750ml bottles, the little village you live in is about to be covered in plastic flow from the nearby volcano, you have time to get yeah 10 750ml of your prized bourbon. In my case it my be as simple as " I don't think we're in Kentucky any more Toto" . 10 Bottles. You get shipped to some island without a distillery next door, It may be a long dry spell! And they are....... my Pappy 23( the 20 gets sacrificed to the angry gods) Birthday Bourbon Bookers Stagg " " " " " "Why Bookers? I have never beat and banged about it much here. A nostalgia thing I suppose!

Buckky
As the lava nips at my heels I quickly grab a Buffalo Trace, a AAA 10year, a Old Forester 100 and a Woodford Reserve as my basic "stash" but then I dare the lava to wait as I contemplate which of the "Antiques" and uniques I will take next...of course "the King", George T. Stagg, will join me on this trip as will Eagle Rare 17. But wait, the Pennsylvanian A.H.Hirsch 16 will come along, as well as his Ky mates Elmer T. Lee OR Mr. Blanton. ( I know that is weeny..as a general rule I would say Blanton's has a more consistent taste profile but I have had some exceptional ETL...I guess thats why it is called "single" barrel) But what next?...a VanWinkle Rye or VW 15y/107? or a VW 20!!! ...aha..I made it onto the plane and as I look down at my collection of good times I think..."I hope we see a liquor store in about 2 weeks or so.." jeff
I think I would buy a bigger suitcase OK, mine would be as follows: Stagg x 2 Kentucky Spirit x 2 Eagle Rare 17yo x 2 Pappy 20yo x 1 Weller 12yo x 1 VWFRR 13yo x 1 Old Forester 100 x 1 Plus three or four cases of minis <---Guardian of my Stash
bluesbassdad
Bobby,If you're going to allow more than one bottle of the same bottling, everything I grab might very well say "Van Winkle" somewhere on the label -- and that's without benefit of tasting any of the Pappy bottlings so far. However, because you restricted the choices to bourbon, I will reluctantly elminate VWFR 13 from consideration. That opens up four or five slots.ORVW 10 (or Old Commonwealth, which I am drinking right now) -- TwoORVW 15 -- TwoHirsch 16 -- TwoHirsch 20 -- OneGeorge T. Barrel_Proof
Since I see plenty Stagg already packed--and I know you'll share--I'm packing 10 different bottlings: 1. Blanton's Gold 2. Booker's 10th Anniversary 3. Hirsch 16 4. Hirsch 20 5. Martin Mills 6. Old Charter Proprietor's Reserve 7. Old Forester Birthday 2002 8. Pappy 23 9. Stagg 2002 10. Wild Turkey 12 Man alive, Bobby, I actually had to do some taste test research tonight to meet your challenge: the OCPR beat out Wathen's and the Blanton's Gold beat out Rock Hill Farms in two very tight races to make the final list! I'm ready to be marooned, especially knowing that y'all are bringing your bunker suitcases, too.
bobbyc
BBD, if you want a rye bring it. Cliff, If this was a reason for you to do some serious taste testing , somehow that makes it worthwhile to me that I came up with this(Actually something Jim posted put me on this track) . I almost wish there was a less serious reason than escaping molten lava that we could all pack up and take this trip! But then again something very close will come up in September! Load a few lava lamps in your Geo Dave and come to Bardstown,That will save me a trip to Cal. some way , I'm going to have a drink with you. Wild Turkey 12 makes a good showing here I didn't think of it at first.
MurphyDawg
Is this supposed to be coming out of what I have on hand at home right now?? In that case 1. KY Spirit 2. Lee 8 AAA 10 Year (I bet I could get the plastic 1.75L to fit in the space that a glass fifth would occupy) 9. Bday bourbon hmmmmm. . . oh yeah, so Jeff doesnt kick me back into the lava flow, I SUPPOSE I will take my Stagg. TomC

OneCubeOnly
I'll assume I'm limited to the ACTUAL bottles I have on hand (ie. I won't put 10 bottles of Pappy 23 or GTS since I don't own 'em!) Here goes: 2 bottles Pappy 20 4 bottles Blanton's (yes, I actually have this many in the 'bunker'...I caught a Montgomery County, MD sale!) 2 bottles A.H. Hirsch 16 (I own two...one to taste, one to keep until I retire) 1 bottle VWFR Rye 13yo 1 bottle Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit (I actually find this one overrated, but I figure it's good barter material with all the fellow StraightBourbonians on the island!)
