FWIW, I'd almost trade my unopened GTS 2014 for a 6 bottle-750 case of HH 6yr BIB. Almost. THIS IS NOT AN OFFER!! I'm serious. IT IS NOT! OK. Two cases then.
flahute
Made some Mint Juleps with Weller 107. Damn tasty. Have some Woodford on deck since they're the sponsor.

I hired someone with family in Kentucky who has been a reliable mule. That's someone with job security, haha.
smokinjoe
Spent the afternoon at Battery Atlanta and had a couple of 4R Yellow labels on ice. One of my least favorite bourbons, but very solid today. Sometimes, it’s all about mood, place, and timing.
Patrick_OKC
Joe, I commute to Kennesaw from the Plano/Dallas, Tx area. What is Just East of the Big Chicken, GA? Pat
Swamp55
Credit the TV commercials before the Derby, I guess, but I found myself with a strange compulsion to have some WR on the rocks! Haven't had any of this in a good long while, and I had to rummage around the cabinet to find it, but it was surprisingly satisfying while watching the race activities this afternoon. Power of suggestion, indeed!

Is what I used, the WR. I usually make Juleps with rye or a rye forward bourbon, but on May 5th, a wheated seems to work.
kevinbrink
Was at a friends place and despite the available options went with Ezra Brooks 90 and thoroughly enjoyed it during the race.
dcbt
I went with Blantons because of the horse topper. RHF was also considered because of the horses on the bottle.

Pat Google “The Big Chicken— Marietta, GA”. I’m about 5 miles Due East of that 8th Wonder of the World...From your position in Kennesaw, Head South on 41 and hang a left at the Big Chicken. You’ll be here in 10 minutes...And, next time you fly to ATL, you’ll know you’re almost here when that pilot takes a hard bank to the right to head South. That means he’s spotted the Big Chicken and is lining himself up to enter the final approach to Harrsfield.

I pick up a couple of these a year, and enjoy it every time. I think it’s a very solid budget pour, and generally choose it over standard Evan Williams if both are on the shelf. It had been labeled “90 proof” for years, then a couple of years ago I noticed they dropped the “proof” part and just had 90 on the neck. But it seemed they quickly went back to “90 proof” on the label. Not sure I ever heard the complete story with all that.

I'm going to use the Big Chicken as a starting point and work my way out until I score some BTAC, lol.

camduncan
Due to the time difference, the east coast of Australia sees the live broadcast from 6.30am on Sunday morning. So for me, that means coffee with a dash of bourbon. This years choice was a 2008 Evan Williams Single Barrel. The coffee was accompanied by home made banana pancakes with bourbon barrel aged maple syrup. The wife had a win, my pick came third. A great morning

Even before I began commuting, I wondered what the Big Chicken was. Pat
Mako254
I can’t recommend Dot Dot Dot in Charlotte NC enough. A private cocktail club (anyone over 21 can join for $10 online). We were in town last night and a friend rec’d it. Their juleps were well done (makers) and the food and other cocktails were top shelf. Impressive bourbon list especially considering they can only buy from Mecklenburg county ABC stores. Only took one picture.
BottledInBond
I enjoyed far too many mint juleps at the track, as well as a bunch of our flask bourbon which some were HHBIB6 and one was Woodford. Most rain in the history of the Derby. I won some money, won the party, but I’m still some level of hungover right now. Good times
