trumpstylz
I stopped at a store while driving through kentucky and I noticed the vob- it was a handle and it did not have the "6 years" age statement on it. This might be because it was only the 80 proof, but I don't know. At the top, where it used to say 6 years, it now just says "hand crafted". Can anyone elaborate?Apologies if this was already covered previously.
flintlock
I think that age statements are going away across multiple brands. Partly this is presented as an ability to give distillers the opportunity to use whiskey that tastes good in the mix, even though it might not make the age requirement. Of course it also saves money...but we needn't dwell on that, need we? I hope they don't change VOB - it's a fave. I'll watch the labels on the BIB. Gillman
As far as I recall, the last squat bottles of the 80 proof VOB did not mention a 6 year age statement, thus all current packaging (for the 80) would be the same I think. However, the 86-100 proof bottles, including the new tear drop bottle shape, still state a 6 year age.Gary
barturtle
I'm not sure of the 80 ever having an age statement. In the 90's the BIB was age stated 4yo, that changed at some point to 6yo with the rest of the line. If the 80 ever had an age statement it would likely have been back at that point. Gillman
But if you look at this older bottle of the VOB 80, the neck label, unlike for the other proofs, appears not to mention the 6 year statement. I can't read the gold sticker though below the neck, does it state 6 years? If you look on the 86 in the same set of shots, the gold label states 6 years clearly, but I'm not sure it does on the 80.http://www.thepartysource.com/whiskey/whiskey_bourbon.phpGary
Enoch
I just bought two handles of VOB 80 proof with early 2000 bottles and they do NOT have an age statement. I just noticed it because of reading this thread.

PaulO
From what I've seen, Tha BIB has an age statement, the 80 does not. I think this is true for both current, and older style paper labeled bottles. I can't remember about the 86, or 90 proof versions.
