Saw this the other day in USA Today. I've got a new favorite to cheer on in the Olympics! Wonder if it is bourbon or scotch that she prefers.

Desiree Davila talks Olympic marathon, baseball, whiskey

"Yes, I collect whiskey. It's fun to just sit down, kick back and have a drink. We have some friends that are really into it. I probably have 15 or 20 bottles"

Not trying to be a D, but is 15-20 bottles really a "collection?" Sounds more like a regular at home liquor bar to me.

Not a d, just a nerd.

I'd say anyone with more than 5 bottles of decent whiskey has a collection. 95% of people I know rarely have more than a bottle of Jack/Beam, a bottle of Johnny Walker, and MAYBE some Maker's Mark or Jameson. I remember I used to consider my collection impressive when I had 5 different scotches in my cabinet. Then, in 2005, after tasting a Saz18, I saw a buddy's rye/bourbon collection at 20+ bottles and my world changed. He's the only other person I know who "collects". Heck, I get chatty when I see any single malt, single barrel, or barrel proof bottle.

Great. I'll remember to look out for her and cheer :-)

I'd go as low as 3 bottles. Ig you have three (quality) bottles, then you are hooked :-)

Most people I know have a bottle of rum, a bottle of vodka and a bottle of something else :-)

Sometimes when I skim an article I'll process words from two lines jumbled together. What I read is:

Yes, I collect whiskey. It's fun to just sit down, kick back and have a drink. We have some friends that

are really into it. I probably have just 15 or 20 bottles.

And I thought how that was a mighty good start for her!

In my book, it's not a collection if I can sit down and put a decent dent in it all in one sitting.

I just started about 2 months ago and I think I have a collection and it's only one 2007 William Larue Weller, 2-2010 GTS, 2-KY Vintage 17, one VW Lot B. It may be a small collection, but it's a start. I do have a makers, WR, and a

EW for guest. :)

I don't collect whiskey and I've got 18 bottles.

I think that 18 bottles would be considered a collection to most people. I'd say that I collect and at my house currently I have 15 bottles of my own and 30+ bottles that other people own.

I collect tequila more than bourbon. That collection is out of hand.

I taught a few workmates to like whisky and bourbon, and I think they in general have around 8-12 each. Might not be a collection in the eyes of people like you and me, but their wifes think they got more than plenty of whisky :-)
