What to do with empty bottles?

My wife made a Tiki Torch out of my Blanton's. I'm impressed. Will mount on the fence post.

Yep. Bought the wicks from Lowes and drilled a 1/4" hole to run it through. Started small on the hole and worked up to keep from destroying the horse and the cork. Cork holds it it so it needs to survive the drilling. Thanks I'll let her know she did good!

Nice job to MrsKFC on that Blanton's, in that she was able to salvage the beautiful stopper. I have done similar torches with OF Birthday Bourbons and RHF bottles. The OFBB is a PITA on the bar, but is a great stable platform for this!! I went with copper plumbing pieces

for the top. Didn't trust the cork from not burning on the OFBB (the stopper is entirely made of cork, and didn't think I could successfully drill the RHF. I'll try the Blanton's next. Again, well done!

That really is a great use for those bottles. The copper looks cool and functional.

that blantons tiki looks like a little grenade!

i keep a few screw-cap bottles around and put home made drinks in them. great for refilling with homemade limoncello made with vodka and everclear, and tossing them in the freezer. I also rebottle homemade apple cider/sugar/cinnamon/clove/bourbon for storage or gifts

most stuff just goes into the recycle bin though.

the angels envy bottle would make a cool vase as someone above mentioned.

I've taken empty BTAC bottles and filled them with black aquarium rocks to help white labels stick out.... Make great book-ends on the shelf.

Most go in the trash, But i made a candle out of an old bottle of makers mark. filled it with water, red food dye, red candle in the top, with extra wax dripped over the wax that is already there. Wish I still had a picture of it

One novel idea that another member here (ACDetroit IIRC) once talked about, was having a glass cutter cut down empty BTAC bottles, and make them into rocks glasses.

This sounds incredibly amazing. Has anyone ever managed to do this?

Actually, I remember that you could buy a glass cutter and sander to make coke bottles into drinking glasses when I was a kid.

Small bottles (less than 750ml-4/5 qt) for decanting contents of larger bottles that have been partially consumed. Everything else recycled. When you have 100+ full bottles it's hard to keep empties. One or two for candles. I have a 1949 OT BiB bottle for that purpose, though the top broke off partially.

I keep one of every bottle I've had as proof I'm not talking out my a** when I make an opinion on a whiskey. After I have one bottle saved, the rest get recycled or donated to my friend's dad. He melts them and makes wind chimes out of them.

Damn, that could turn into a massive pile of empties over the years. "no no, don't open that door...that's the empty room"

It already has! My garage walls are lined with dozens of bottles. I actually ran out of space this week with the addition of a bottle of Bulleit Rye and a bottle of Johnny Drum Private Stock. I need to get some more shelves installed soon!
