TradingBoiler
Hey all! I just wanted to see if any of my fellow SBers recommend a few solid liquor stores not too far off of I-65 as I make my way from Chicago to Nashville tomorrow?? I am open to any on the back roads as well as I may be taking that route on my return trip on Sunday. I am spoiled by living close to Binny's and know that their selection is second to none, but I know there are some solid places on my way that have a great selection without Illinois' wonderful 10.25% sales tax:grin:. Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks!!!

Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks!!!Unfortunately for you, Tennessee's Tax ain't much lower. Try Chuck's Liquors in Bowling Green Ohio. There are 3 locations. Usually, well stocked. Prices can be spotty, but some deals to be had on certain items. If you google the locations, go to the one right off of I65 (Exit 22?) only for selection, as this one is typically a little higher priced than the others, but may have more stuff. The one a few exits up and off the beaten path a bit is better priced typically.Safe travels.
MyOldKyDram
One of the Liquor Barns in Louisville is about a mile or so off of 65.Better still, if you have the time to go an hour or so out of your way then cut over to 75 and head up to The Party Source and Cork and Bottle just outside of Cincinnati. No inside track on any hidden gems here, though. Kyjd75
Packages and More Liquors in Elizabethtown, Ky. Exit 94 off I65. You will not find a better bourbon selection anywhere. This is a new store, as E-town has just recently gone wet, and the young owner has made a real commitment to be a bourbon destination. Where I got my Ezra Brooks. I have been to this Chuck's Liquor store described by Joe above and Joe's description is spot on. Thanks!!!I just came back from my vacation and while in that area I found TPS in Bellevue and Keg Liquors in Clarksville,IN to be my top picks.I picked up quite a few things and at great prices at these 2 locations when you get home you will realize how spoiled you are with Binny's being near by! petrel800
I stopped at Chucks once on the way back to Atlanta from HH. Good selections, but they were proud of their Bourbon ($$$).I've read about a couple good stores in Murfeeboro, TN, but I've never stooped. The sour mash manifesto blogger talks about a few on his blog from time to time.

I love newer stores because they haven't been quite as picked over. Unfortuantely I can't find it on the map (probably because it's new). Can you shoot me the address if you're comfortable doing that? I know some of the SBers don't want to give away hidden gems which I completely understand. Thanks again for the help! TradingBoiler
Ok right now the plan is to stop at Kegs in Clarksville, Chuck's Liquors in Bowling Green, Packages and More in Elizabethtown (if I can find it ), and the Liquor Barn in Louisville. I'll take any suggestions if there are any for places to stop in Tennessee. Let me know. Thanks again to all of you for the awesome suggestions! KYPayne
I've read about a couple good stores in Murfeeboro, TN, but I've never stooped. The sour mash manifesto blogger talks about a few on his blog from time to time.I live in Murfreesboro. There's a store called LongHorn Liquors on US 41 about 5 miles off of I-24 where I found 2 WTAS, 3 EC18, and a First Edition PHC. I also found an empty Pappy15 bag. They don't have a big selection of different bourbons, but they often have different releases of several brands. There's also Total Beverages off of exit 76 on I-24. I by OGD 114 there. They also have VOBBIB. They have Willett 18 and Willett 21 for upwards of $200. They also have several bottles of BTEC and the Single Oak Project.
