jburlowski
Trying to replace a recently emptied ETL, I visited three local, high-volume liquor stores. All were out; citing the fact that the distributor / distillery was not supplying any at the present. All said they inquired about an availability date and all were told that none could be forecast.I've heard that Elmer's health is not good and he hasn't been able readily available to pick barrels. Has anyone else seen local ETL shortages?
MyOldKyDram
Last I checked there was ETL for miles in Central KY.
Clavius
I know that at the retail store I work at in Central KY the distributor, Republic, has been out of ETL for weeks. Not sure why though.
GaryT
During my hunt for High West Campfire this morning, I saw ETL on the shelves of every place I hit . . . but I'm going to follow this thread as I'm actually out and just procrastinating replenishment! Bourbon Boiler
Both still in stock at TPS, but they'd be one of the last to run out I'd imagine.
hectic1
It's still available in their private barrel program so I'd imagine that there is nothing to this other then maybe a distributor being out of stock or something like that. In the stores in the Chicago market I haven't noticed ETL being a "big" mover and up until a couple years ago I could find wax top bottles from the early 2000's still sitting on the shelf. bad_scientist
About 100 bottles in the system in Montgomery County, Maryland. A few months ago there was a shortage, but clearly we're back up to healthy levels.
White Dog
It has gotten a bit more sparse in Wisconsin, but I can still find it.
Enoch
It seems to always be available here in SC and in VA when I go up there where it is a steal compared to SC. Often on sale for $25 a bottle.
JLH3
Haven't seen any in AZ.
Shuboy
I don't want to seem rude but I wonder if ETL will continue after, well, Elmer passes in the far, far future?

GaryT
I would expect that it would continue - if only that we may toast the passing of one of the greats with it on a regular basis (when that sad day comes).
PaulO
My experience in Indianapolis area, and Bloomington is; ETL is on the shelf sometimes, and missing for spans of time. One time many months after the 90th birthday stuff had totally disapperared, a store suddenly got more in. OWA, and Saz Rye can be the same way. They're out, they get some, then they're out again. MauiSon
I just had my first local sighting of ETL, but it's $33 - that's a wee too much, isn't it? (I get Blanton's and Rare Breed for that price)

Brisko
What proof is the Blanton's you're getting for $33? Is it possible that you're getting the 80 proof export version, being in HI?
MauiSon
No, it's the original and not just at one retailer, either. Plus it's current stock - the bottle I just bought was dumped this year. Export stuff is probably available here at the duty-free store, we have one in Waikiki and at the airport. DPPSmoker
I stopped by my local liquor store (mid-Michigan) on Saturday evening and the store's owner was standing in front of the whiskey putting together his next order. I asked him if he would order a bottle of Elmer for me. He told me to stop by Wednesday (today) to pick it up. It was waiting for me when I got there.
