Too smug, now moaning. Last year I decided I had enough Stagg & Pappy so didn't get on any order lists. Watching the hysteria build as people position for war to get bottles, I got curious wondering how 2012 would compare to past years. Now I have to track down folks getting 2012 to compare...makes me wonder how many folks lurk outside stores to grab bottles from people moving too slow.

Also getting very curious to see what post stitzel-weller pappy20 will taste like. Will it be ER20? I'll try one to see what it is.

Curiosity is a terrible thing, it killed a lot of cats.

Life is too short and the cost of a bottle of Stagg or Pappy will buy a hell of a lot of VOB BIB. And I can get a case any time. Enough with the Pappy!

New game, when someone types the word Pappy, everyone takes a drink. I have a feeling we will all be in the ER before the end of the day.

I have not seen Barton BIB, in fact there appear to be nearly no BIB whiskeies in Texas. It's hard to count Rittenhouse because it isnt tax stampped. It's just 100 proof. I am not even sure if OGD BIB has a tax stamp. Is it that tax stamps.are.no longer used? Doesnt the government still house and maintain whiskeys for 4 years?

BIB bottles don't have tax stamps these days. Rittenhouse is labelled in the same way as all BIBs. They disclose the location of distillation and the location of bottling. The bonded warehouses were always maintained by the distillers themselves, under government supervision.

The Goody Goody stores in Dallas have the VOB BIB. There is also Tom Moore BIB which is Barton. There is Dant BIB. Granted we don't have a lot but there are a few. I buy Tom Moore BIB by the case. $105 cash out the door for 1.75s.

Ok, so is there a consensus that VOBBIB is good juice or is ita matter of "good for the money" situation? Been meaning to go to a Goody Goody.for.a.while <--. BTW these extra periods are not a mistake nor are they artistic punctuation. The BlackBerry PlayBook seems to have feature where by some taps of the Space bar register as an auto-period and some don't. There doesnt appear to be a way to turn it off and going back to correct it is just as cumbersome...especially after you've had a few.... /end rant

I think it is a consensus on this site that VOV BIB is one of the great deals out there in the bourbon world. It is a high proof, solid bourbon at $15 a 750. It stands toe-to-toe with many $25 bottles out there. You should really try the Tom Moore BIB. It is VOB just younger but has all the great Barton qualities. And it's only in Texas and Louisiana.
