Was given a bottle for Thanksgiving:cool:

Purchased at Total Wine in Phoenix, AZ.

Terrepure Spirits, Charleston SC - contract packer

Brand not in COLA

Pretty smooth, some rye flavor

Priced mid $20's

Not special to me...plenty of drinkable and even tasty bourbons in this price range...

Anyone else try this?

Any ideas about its composition?

Aged just long enough to be labeled Straight Bourbon, looks like the efforts were all in the packaging. What a rip off, for less than $20 I can get a bottle of fully aged Bonded Kentucky Bourbon.

Total Wine will often sell mystery labels of cheap booze in the hopes of big margins. They are usually on the shelf at eye level so they look like they are important labels. These bottles are strictly buyer beware.

Yep, I spend a lot of time Googling while I am at Total Wine, trying to figure out what all of the random bourbons are. But I've never actually bought one of the randoms, as they have a good selection otherwise of the bigger guns (OWA, ETL, etc.), with good prices.

Winchester Bourbon is an example of what I'm going to start referring to as an engineered spirit as there is a now growing "shortcut" industry for aged product.

This particular bottle is sold by Terressentia under their TerrePURE brand. You can Google their name for details, but they say that they can produce a fully aged spirit in less time using new technology.

There is a COLA online for it under ID 12107001000247

There's another player in the game here in my area called Cleveland Whiskey. There are earlier threads here about their efforts, but they are due to release their first bottling soon. The owner of the joint has already reached out to some of the more reputable chefs in the area to get his product placed on release.

Please join me in welcoming the distilling alchemists to the game of aged spirits.

TerrePure/Terresentia is a South Carolina company that makes lots of different brands, mostly for restaurants, clubs, stores, etc. Winchester is one of their few brands in general release. As far as I know, it's all sourced.

Didn't we have a thread about this new aging technique?

Yep, there's some earlier threads. I don't want to give them any more exposure by hunting for them and posting links.

I guess I'm becoming a purist.

I didn't say this BS held any credence.
