silverfish
I'd be curious to know what would have happened if you didn't have a driver's license.
BAO
For whatever it's worth, I do know a few of the Binny's in the area will require a name from a driver's license for certain allotted purchases. They only did that to make sure people weren't coming back in two or three hours later to buy something when a new shift of employees took over. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like you're dealing with that situation here...

wripvanwrinkle
A while ago, my dad picked a Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection seasoned oak off of the shelf from that store. When he brought it to the register the guy at the counter saw it and said that it should not have been on the floor. He put it behind the counter and brought out a maple finish.Recently, I stopped by there. Seeing the older bottles (and the associated pricing), I wondered what else they had in the back. Giving them some grief, I asked if they were trying to run a museum or a museum gift shop. He justified the pricing by pointing to eBay.He then went on to describe the major issues with bottle flipping and told me he had been instructed by the distributor to track all customers who had purchased allocated inventory. I found that odd. I've never met a distributor that cared. Edited November 29, 2012 by wripvanwrinkle
Old Lamplighter
How long before Binny's & other large retailers issue a card like Kroger so we can take advantage of all the 'specials'? In turn, all the while tracking & recording our purchases & purchasing habits. So, recording DLs or other forms ID doesn't shock me in the least here

Josh
I know that Premier in Western NY also has a card program and has for many years.

Bad store owner, bad.
silverfish
I know that Premier in Western NY also has a card program and has for many years. And it works too - for every bottle of Kessler I buy, I get a free 4 pack of Champale!(Seriously - nothing to see here in WNY. Move along everybody...)
ILLfarmboy
Sounds like sour grapes......and what the owner thinks might be a way to frighten his costumers into not flipping a bottle. Sort of like some jackwagon who won't sell you a steak if you're gonna feed it to your dog.
