jtgraves
So I popped in to a local liquor store the other day, and the owner pointed me to his stack of Aberfeldy 21. He has it marked down from $159 to just $59. I was curious about why, and he said he thought they were planning to stop distributing to TX. I called around a little and found that lots of TX stores had slashed the price on it. Apparently it was as low as $39.99 at some of the Spec's locations, but they're all sold out. However, the other major chain in my area, Twin Liquors, was still selling it at $155.So does anyone know anything about why they're leaving the TX market, or if that's even true?Anyway, if you live in or close to TX, and this is your sort of whisky, you might want to call around and see if you can snap up a bottle on the cheap. jtgraves
Yeah. I'm certainly not complaining about the price. I picked up a case the other day, and my receipt said:AMOUNT SAVED $400I can live with that.

wadewood
I never saw $39.99 at Specs but did see and buy it at $49.99 during Spec's Scotch Extravaganza event early this month. Prior to that it has been more like $62.99 at Specs, but the price yoyos and occasionally goes up to $159.99. It's been this way in Houston Specs for 2+ years. I've bought a bunch that might have made it to some other places....My guess is they have way too much inventory and need to move some, but don't want to cannibalize the higher price it fetches in other markets. So they pick a market to blow some out; in this case they picked Houston (? all of TX). Beam's Ri(1) was way underprice in TX compared to rest of the US. For a year it was $19.99 at Specs and now think it is $24.99. I have an open bottle and really enjoy it for under $65; for $165? I would pass.A side note, there was an ebayer from here that figured this out and made a pretty good killing on this; typically selling for $120+ on ebay. ChainWhip
Holy zombie thread Batman!=]bSo... Prices on this in TX appear to be good still - any feedback on the Aberfeldy 21? Last time I tried this scotch, my palate was too fried to really get a good read on it.I'm guessing it's good enough at this lower price. bgageus
Just went to Specs yesterday and the clerk told me they just raised the prices last week from $50 to $150, the party might be over.
