tmckenzie
I called up my local whiskey monger a week or so back to see if he could get me some 100 proof VOB. I am in New York state by the way. Well to my surprise, he said yes he could. Only in the family size for a whopping price of 23 bucks. I picked up 4 of those yesterday. One for me, and 3 as gifts. And it is some fine stuff. Glad to see Sazerac doing good things with VOB. And if you are in NY, northside wine in Ithaca has a shelf full. So I checked the Ohio liquor control database to see if it is available to us..Bingo!! They have one store listed that has it. Which means we should have it available for special order at our local store. The bummer is that the family size is $28.

They have one store listed that has it. Which means we should have it available for special order at our local store. The bummer is that the family size is $28.30As a fellow Buckeye, I have always bought my VOB in KY for $23.95 a handle. When I saw VOB BIB at Dornan's in Tetons National Park, I was so glad to see it that I paid the premium price of $18.50 for a 750. With that said, until both price and availability improve in OH, most of my bourbon dollars will continue to be spent in KY.

That's great news and a good price, too (TPS lists handles for $23.50.)Time to put out some feelers...
squire
Well I'm glad some of my fellow enthusiasts will now have Barton available locally, I hope this means an increase in production, I hope it doesn't mean higher prices.
callmeox
$28 and change including tax isn't a bad deal at all for the family size. I paid 24 plus KY tax earlier this year for the same. Now, they need to get some up here in NEAhia.
JPBoston
LOL --- I love the 'family size' monicker. I'm sticking to it, I'll report back on whether my wife is quite as tickled by it.
squire
Hope so, I think the wives are tired of that other line, one bottle one serving.

Josh
No sign of VOB BiB in Michigan yet, just the 90 proof. The 90 is pretty good itself, but it's not the BiB. Let's hope it's on the way soon.

JPBoston
Hey VOB 100 fans ---Just how good is it? Been meaning to bug my local Total Wine to order some. Does it compare to any other, readily-available brands?

squire
Maybe that didn't fully address the question. In a side by side tasting Barton compares favorably with EW Black and Beam Black to name a couple of brands that are widely available. I rank the 6 year old Barton above Ten High or Evan Williams Green but not up to par with Evan Williams Single Barrel.

MarkEdwards
Just found it in the Fort Worth, Texas area. All the glowing reviews I've seen here, told me I needed to pick up a bottle. So I did.
tmckenzie
Alright, all you folks just trying it, what are your thoughts? I went through over half of my jug over the long weekend by myself. Back on the wagon again now. Damn doctors.
