Yes it is, Bulleit is it's own thing, far less complex than Four Roses. Isn't the rye content of the mashbill something like 38%?

So I had planned on (and came very close to) buying 2 Liter size bottles of 90 proof MM today, in addition to some other bottles. But ultimately I changed my mind and I'm glad I did. Instead of the MM, I bought:

2x Weller 12

2x Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve's (I helped choose the barrel)

1x Buffalo Trace

1x OGD 114

I prefer all of these bottles greatly over MM. And the MM, if I had bought it, would just sit forever on the shelf.

Very good decision, Matt!

Sounds a lot like my day...

2x OWA Family Size

Weller 12

Ritt BIB

And no Maker's Mark, even passed on 1.75s at $15 less than I normally see them.

among some other things, i picked up a CHETsmb. never messed with any of the CHETs before, and figured if i liked their entry level stuff it might convince me to try some of their more expensive offerings. i realize i might have just paid for some pretty packaging as much of this bt mashbill can be found in other bourbons on the market. hoping that barrel selection will make the difference in price worth it

I checked out a couple hole-in-the-wall stores about an hour away and found EWSB 1996 and 1998 on the shelf. A bit overpriced, but I figured what the hell, not likely to see these vintages again.

Like some posters above I am also comtemplating squirreling away a MM...perhaps a 750 ml just for the heck of it. Went to the store and left with an OGD 114 and an OFBB 2012. Guess I'll have to get the MM later or just scratch it all together.

2 x WLW 12

2 x RIT BIB

1 x VWFR 15 (K0790908:44) Reading previous threads the code suggests it was bottled March 20, 2009. Is there any chance this is SW distillate?

Stopped in a new store today and they had 2 bottles of BTAC Weller sitting on the shelf. I picked up one. I might should have bought both of them.

Got a bottle of Evan Williams Black label, need something of middle weight heft to replace Barton for luncheon cocktails so this one is on the try list.

Visited a few stores today and picked up a FR1B OESQ Binnys pick and also bought another V17 for the bunker. Only one V17 left on the shelf and I'm already being tempted to go back for it. I'm gonna try to see how many of the FR1B picks I can taste in the next couple months.

Drove 1.5 hrs to meet a few friends for dinner/drinks only to have them bail last minute.. So what better way to turn a frown upside down than a good old bourbon buying bender(26 hrs of overtime this week also helps). So I purchased

2x 1.75 very old Barton

1.75 aged stated WSR

Baby Saz

ND 86 proof OGD

PHC cognac

PHC 27 yr

PHC golden anniversaryumu7ydyp.jpg

My wife and I left our house this morning at about 10:00 to run a few errands, and stop at the grocery store. Somehow we ended up at Binny's South loop store. :skep: Don't blame me. My wife was driving. I got to see Joe Maloney for the first time in ages. Of course, and as usual, Joe was more than friendly and helpful. It was really nice seeing him again since I missed the last couple of get togethers at the South Loop store. Cheers Joe! Oh, and I did pick up a few things.

We left the South Loop store and stopped at Ikea in Schaumburg. We stopped for a bite to eat after leaving Ikea. On the way home from there, we were near the Binny's Schaumburg store. My wife asked if I wanted to stop. Yes, she was still driving. What can I say? I ended up grabbing a couple more things there.

Last but not least, we made a quick stop at another store on the last leg home. One more bottle there.

Here's what I ended up with today.

4-Weller 12's

2-Maker's Mark 90 proof holiday gift sets....... Yeah, I know.

1-Colonel E.H. Taylor Small Batch

1-bottle of wine for our daughter in law

1-Binny's hand picked Buffalo Trace

1-Bowman Brothers Small Batch

1-Ten High Ten Year Old

FWIW, we did manage to get to the grocery store before finally making it home at about 8:00 this evening. Needless to say it was a long, but good day. We both had a great time.

It is a mix of Stitzel-weller and Bernheim juice. Enjoy that bottle, it's much better than the new stuff.

Killer PHC haul. I really want a bottle of that cognac finish some day.

My next door neighbor visits Mexico 6-8 times a year and always brings me a bottle of Tequila. Last week he brought back a bottle of Los Azulejos in a beautiful "lead-free" hand-painted decanter. I reciprocated by buying two bottles of 2011 FR LE 1B for us to share. Going to pick up the 2012 tomorrow to compare.

Col. E.H. Taylor small batch bourbon. I haven't been keeping up with comments on the latest E.H Taylor releases . Found the rye too but I wasn' t prepared to spend $94. I haven' t seen this label in my area. Looking forward to trying the small batch.

Took home a bottle of Michter's US*1 Small Batch Original Sour Mash bourbon a few days ago - good stuff IMO but wish it was higher proof
