What are you drinking during the Superbowl?

I've decided to crack open an EWSB 1986. I have wanted to try one, so this seems like a good time with my brothers-in-law. Also getting a growler on the way to their house.

Invited to a friends house where the focus will likely be on scotch. Although I am not above bringing a bourbon or two and trying to make a few converts!

Amazing how easy it is to enjoy both! It's all good!

I'll be drinking many things, from some homebrew beer to a mix of ginger ale, homebrewed kombucha, and bourbon. This is really a great drink.

I made a bunch of bets, so I'll have a good excuse for hollaring at the tv all afternoon

Still can't taste my bourbon (have I mentioned how I HATE winter head-colds?), but found this week that apparently I can taste rye with more success - so THH it is!

I imagine it will begin with a Yuengling Lager and progress to OFBB '12 -->CEHT Warehouse C-->something peaty smoky. Really wished I had picked up a growler of breakfast stout or IPA...oh well

One lager down. Gotta love progress.

OFBB '12

Touching seeing the Sandy Hook kids on stage

I completely agree, being uninvested in either of the teams it could be the highlight for me this year.

I'm going with the FR SmB LE 2012 (seeing if rumors about oxidation are true) killing off a V17 bottle and then having a baby Sazerac...because whats a Super Bowl in New Orleans without some Sazerac whiskey?

I'm watching mostly for the commercials :-)

But that's a good idea, I'll have to pour some Saz later in honor of my hometown.

So far today I've had a Firestone-Walker Double Jack and an Epic Hopulent. Time to move on from the big IPAs to some bourbon.

Cracked open the Prichards Rye and a bomber of Weyerbacher Tiny Imperial stout. Thoughts on both below:

Prichards rye: it was a present from my brother. This must be a lower rye % in the mash. It had a nice sweet tone. A little thin but really a very nice pour IMHO.

Tiny Imperisl Stout: wow, this is how they should taste. Great sweet stout taste, pours like molasses. Very nice winter beer. At $6.99 a bomber this is a beer I will buy a lot more of!!!!

Good game, after a lopsided start. I could do without the Ray Lewis drama, but I generally have no problem with the Ravens otherwise. During this game, I decided that Larceny is fantastic and will be a staple from henceforth. Also, 4R LESmB is fantastic, and I only have one more pour of it left. I will be very sad if I never find another bottle.

Started with the 05 OFBB, finished a short bottle of EWSB 2002, and moved on to ER10. My vote for best commercial was the Paul Harvey narrated thing about "so God made a farmer".

Had a few pours of EWB while preparing chili and cornbread for the game. Iced tea was my drink during the game. I have grown tired of Ray Lewis' act long before this year, found his interview Shannon Sharpe disturbing. I can't wait to see how Leon Sandcastle plays for the Chiefs this coming season.

I put that into the 'mixed message' category of ads - a lot of 'em qualified for that distinction. In fact, it seemed that was this Superbowl's overriding ad theme. 'So God made a farmer, and his name was Cain . . . so if ya wanna raise Cain, buy a Dodge truck.'

Oh yeah, I was drinkin' some discount beer, not the Icehouse beer from Texas tho ($3.50/12 pack), it was the Blue Moon Winter Abbey Ale ($8/12 pack) - nothin' special.

We had a wide assortment of beer: Deschutes NWPA, Firestone Walker Union Jack, Half Acre Daisy Cutter and even Tecate too to go with the jalapeno poppers. Then we switched over to Rare Breed and some Russell's Reserve 10/101.

I'm in the same boat. I made monster batch of Rittenhouse BIB Manhattan's. Was too much going on, andmy head cold had half my sinus clogged. No fun.
