Saw it at TPS last month but it is no longer listed on the website that I can find. Don't recall the price and don't recall seeing it locally yet (which doesn't mean it isn't here because I haven't really been looking).

Oh I understand the distinction Scott, in much the same way some clear rums are actually aged a couple of years in barrel then filtered back to a near colorless liquor. Beam must've had some specific goals when in mind when they decided to go this route.

I have seen basically the same pricing as well,the decal on the bottle of Jacob Beam must be worth and extra $8.I also think it's funny it is labeled as a new product yet the price has already been slashed,must be selling well.

I remember trying this in KY and thinking I might buy a bottle of this to have around. Not an every day sipper but it's interesting.

well, this has shown up in NY. 24 bucks. Now I have stated many times I like young whiskey. This stuff is good. Has a little bourbon taste and plenty of that Beam yeast mash funk that lets you know this stuff is not far from white dog.

I tried this at a store tasting last weekend. I wasn't expecting much and was very pleasantly surprised. The stuff is really pretty good. Unlike Tom, I didn't pick up the "Beam Yeast" thing that we all know about. I found it pleasant all around. I'm not sure what I would do with it but I'm sure there are some pretty good cocktail recipes that it would work great in. Worth a try I would say.

lets put it this way. there are a lot of micros out there that would give their left nut to have one year old whiskey taste that good. It is not all about putting hal a million bucks in a still and having it magically make whiskey. Lots of know how and craft goes into what the big distillers do.

Lots and lots, these distillerys that opened up after Prohibition have been doing it for more than 75 years now.

Jacob's Ghost is unique it that it is aged a year and then heavily filtered to remove all of the color and a lot of the harsh, white-doggy taste that remains. The taste brings to mind malted milk balls or maybe white chocolate. It's a little sweet, a little malty, but not very whiskey. I'll take the black label or the coming-soon 12-year-old, thank you very much.

This stuff is selling like hot cakes here in Kentucky. I haven't tried it, and have no desire to try it, but a lot of people are buying it, especially those were regulars at the "moonshine" section of my local store.

I get a lot of white dog taste for it to havebeen in a barrel a year. Must have been a used barrel?
