I think the mistake you make is to assume everyone else is just as earnest and pragmatic and can see beyond their own biases. Hater's gonna hate.

In any case, thanks, I think. While I am not sure who my peers are or who the haters are in this case, I appreciate the compliment. But remember, I am least as pessimistic as you about people's basic motivations.
