Fact - distillers send reviewers/bloggers free samples or bottles of their products for evaluation purposes.

So the poll is simple yes or no. Do you think on single barrel offerings the producers select what bottles get sent out and pick whiskey that is funnier than the standard profile for that brand?

Vote yes if you think this has happened or No if you think this has never happened.

No... because at least some reviewers are ego-centric and have at some times a barely decernible sense of humor.

Chuck, it's not whiskey but can I offer you a sample of Rumble Lite? It's close to the Rumble profile, but instead of distilling a spirit from sugar, honey and figs we substituted Splenda for the sugar. It's not available in the retail release, but it tastes close enough.

My understanding is that the hands-down funniest, silliest and goofiest bottles all go to BarrelChar.

I owe that last post to him, honestly. Free BarrelChar!

I would say yes. From a pure business standpoint it makes the most sense for them to send the best they have to offer in an effort to illicit a positive/glowing review that will (hopefully) promote sales.

I have come to the conclusion that almost every whiskey related "conspiracy" question can be answered by keeping just one thing in mind......money. Pappy/SW hysteria, Maker's Mark proof drop, this super sample theory, etc. etc. It all comes down to business and money. Take all emotions out of it and it's like Roger Waters said.....

Can't you see

It all makes perfect sense

Expressed in dollars and cents,

Pounds, shillings and pence

Can't you see

It all makes perfect sense

Good to see we agree on The Fact (and that you have a good sense of humor).

Rest assure they do send out funny bottles. But what do I know? I'm just a uneducated consumer/bourbon geek who talks out his ass and who's too drunk on free gazebo table whiskey to know it.

Now that was funny...unlike this poor spoof on your thread Wade! :D

Don't yell at me for hijacking the thread, but what happened to BarrelChar? Did he disappear on his own or was he kicked out of here?

Like the way you tell a story. You know, funny.

Remember, all, this whiskey thing is supposed to be fun. If you're not having fun, you're doing it wrong.

You mean, let me understand this ... cuz I ... maybe its me, maybe I'm a little fucked up maybe. It's funny how, I mean funny, like it's a clown? It amuses you. It makes you laugh? It's here to fuckin' amuse you? Whattya you mean funny? Funny how? How is it funny?

Absolutely. Hey, has anyone tried that new Rodeo Clown small batch? I hear it's hilarious.

Lol. A bar in Houston is doing a drink with Balcones for the rodeo week called Rodeo Clown. I plan on having one next week. I'll make sure to send my reviews to Chuck.

What bar? I may stop by and try one.

I don't think anything but funny barrels are bottled. Unfunny barrels are just too rank for anyone to consume.

Katsuya. I'll probably head over there after Spec's if you'd like to join.
