oke&coke
For the Hawaii members or those coming to Hawaii I have a suggestion for food and whiskey to try. On the corner of Nuuana and Merchant Streets are two Irish pubs, Murphy's and O'Tooles. The first serves food as well as a nice bar. Not sure on the whiskey selection but safe to assume it is at least decent. Currently sitting at O'Tooles finishing a pour of Ritt BIB. The whiskey selection is good, they allow smoking, as well as bringing food from Murphy's. Service and atmosphere is also good.
MauiSon
Something new at the local Costco, Four Roses Single Barrel! Not the first appearance of this expression, but the least expensive @ $40+tax. To put it in perspective, tho, I bought a case of TPS selected (a while ago, when they were still shipping) and my total (with shipping to HI and 10% discount) came to $40/bottle. oke&coke
Nice. Hope it's a permanent thing and not just for the holidays.
oke&coke
Just read an email that a local liquor store is doing a dinner/tasting with Harlen Wheatley as the guest speaker. Woohoo they are starting to pay attention to us. The event is on Dec 13. Unfortunately I am working the grave so will be missing it.
MauiSon
Whoa! PHC POH has arrived! Weller SR and OWA are here! Some EHT offerings, too. Prices aren't great, but I took home an OWA for $25 [and that's okay].

oke&coke
The POH may be a little high but they all seem to be on par for Hawaii.

marco246
Discovered at the Hilo AAFES (Army and Air Force Exchange System) store just before Christmas: Buffalo Trace at $27.50 per 750. And no tax. Bought four. . . . Also, Kadota Liquors in Hilo has Eagle Rare 10 and Four Roses yellow and small batch. Things are looking up! marco246
I visited the Pearl Harbor Navy Exchange about six months ago and looked for--and did not find--any Sazerac stuff. I have a feeling that if I had instead visited the Fort Shafter or Schofield Barracks AAFES, I might have found some, inasmuch as the Hilo AAFES is just a satellite off the bigger Army and Air Force stores on Oahu. Years ago, the Army and Air Force consolidated their exchanges for greater efficiency. The Navy opted out and kept its own system, which means differing inventories of everything from refrigerators to booze.
oke&coke
Unfortunately Mark you would be wrong. I have swung through there with my parents and they only seem to have the standard supermarket type selection. The only thing that stood out was a private selection JDSB. Been a few months though so maybe they got some new stuff.
MauiSon
In my military days, the Coast Guard bottle shop on Sand Island was a hidden gem.
MauiSon
Sazerac Rye has been spotted at $36 (same price as ER10). It seems we're getting more traction with Sazerac/BT whiskies.
MauiSon
Blowhard ($156) and Barterhouse ($75) have been spotted here. Also saw a HMcBIB 10yo, but @$40+, I'm passing. I'm considering Barterhouse, but seeing Blanton's right next to it @ $34, hmm.
MauiSon
Whistle Pig 10yo has arrived! ($87). Spotted Evan Williams White BIB ($19) and George Dickel #1 Corn Whisky ($18). Blowhard and Barterhouse aren't moving very fast. I'm buying the GD1, it's the cheapest 'white dog' I've seen (and I wasn't disappointed with their Rye).
