So I acquired a dusty bottle of JW Dant that appears to be pre-64. It has the words " Federal Law Prohibits......" molded into the glass. The strange thing is that no where on the bottle is there a proof statement. Can any of you learned Gentlemen offer any information?

I remember that one. Can't quite read the label clearly but if it says Gethsemane it's a dusty for sure. Probably 86 proof from a sticker label higher up on the bottle that has since been lost. I believe Bottled in Bond was on the main label but they say after 60 the first thing to go is your memory, or at least I think that's what they said.

I do recall the era though, parking in a cotton field away from any traffic, just me, Cathy, the Moon, the Stars, and a pint of J.W. Dant under the seat of my two door '62 Chevy Bel Air.

Do you still have the car?

It does indeed say Gethsemane, Nelson County. Since you remeber somethings, please opine on the juice if you care to.
