If something is overpriced, politely offer less with no discussion - if rejected walk away without saying anything. Go back at another time with different employee working and ask again.

The control state laws in MI set a minimum price on items as long as they are on the price book.

On past forays into the state for hunting I was able to negotiate a lower price on items that had been delisted. I've also read of successes here where the stickered price was well above the listed price and was purchased closer to the listed amount.
