Anybody been to one? I see a few references to Bernie Lubbers on SB.com, at least one mentioning his book which I haven't read, but nothing about a tasting with him. Is he a member here?

He will be in Atlanta later this month and I was thinking about attending the tasting. His website notes he is an ambassador for Heaven Hill and describes him as "the Whiskey Professor".

For $10 it seems like it might be worth checking out!

Bernie used to part of the Beam team. I guess HH had deeper marketing pockets.

I've met the guy. Very passionate and knowledgeable. For 10 bucks, what's to lose especially if there is a pour or two in it.

Sounds like a bargain to me. You'll likely get to taste a few pours from the Heaven Hill range, listen to some of Bernie's stories and maybe learn a few things. I can't see a down side here except maybe the cost of a cab ride home if you have a few....

I drove an hour and half for his presentation. Well worth it. He's a great presenter and it's fascinating to taste the changes in bourbon over time.

I've seen him do his thing a couple times with Beam (although did bump into him at HH's BHC during the KBF sporting an Evan Williams polo). Entertaining guy, and I liked his book (educational and funny). For $10 and a couple tastes, I'm signed up!

Just found the Bourbon Trail Explorer website and podcasts last week. The podcasts are basically an informal bourbon tasting. Episodes 4 & 5 include Bernie Lubbers discussing the evolution of bourbon. May be similar to what you would hear at his tasting or dinner.

My wife and I along with another couple plan on attending the dinner.

If I wasn't already booked on Tuesday I would be there. Arianne is a great bartender and I have liked everything I have had from the kitchen at 7 Lamps.

Will have to make do with the tasting at Tower on Wednesday instead.
