ramblinman
Got a quick business trip to Chicago, and I'm going to try to stop by a Binnys to pick up at least one non OBSV FRSB. Leaning towards OBSK, but haven't had any besides the standard so still mostly undecided that. I like a nice high rye with some spice so that seemed like a good starter, open to other suggestions though. And, anything else out of the ordinary that Binnys has going now? Checking their web page it looks like they just did a Buffalo Trace selection, anyone had it?
omgmarclol
the binny's buff trace selection was pretty good, haven't seen it lately; but i haven't been looking for it either. the binny's obsk barrel picks were very good if you were leaning that direction. depending on the store you visit, they may not have a lot of the recipes, the bigger stores have most of them. lincoln park store just got in an ETL selection...other than that, the only thing i saw that was new was the whistlepig 11yr 111. Selection varies from store to store. The South Loop store (not in the Loop though) is the one we are partial to here. This is also WhiskyFest week in Chicago with related activities taking place throughout the week.

Looks like closest one to the office is Lakeview location, but cabs are expensible Saw the info about WhiskyFest, pretty quick trip so doubt I'll be able to partake in anything but going to check out schedule and see. omgmarclol
lakeview's selection was pretty blah last time i was in the neighborhood. the lincoln park store is minutes away with a much wider selection and south loop is maybe a 20min drive from there. the chicago city stores all relatively close to each other, really. AaronWF
Binny's has their first ever RR 1792 on the shelf now, if you like that sort of thing. I've never had the standard bottling of it, but Binny's batch of 2 barrels is quite tasty, though it definitely still has the unfortunate soot notes I've been getting from recent VOB BiB.I think their barrel #2 of EWSB '03 is pretty great too, if that's still around (I got mine from S Loop). I haven't had any other barrels to compare it to, but it's definitely my favorite since '00.
WAINWRIGHT
I find most of Binny's picks to all be quite good from FR's to their Willets and the CEHT SB wasn't too bad either, most of what they put out there you really can't go wrong.I would have to agree with Aaron that the EWSB#2 was pretty tasty and should have bought more. bigtoys
I'd recommend the Lincoln Park store on Marcy that used to be Sam's. Pretty big selection. Will be there Thursday nite for World of Whisky!!:toast:south loop would be next choice if you can get there. you could always call to see if they have a certain bourbon. Dolph Lundgren
You might want to pick up some of their FRSB offerings - there are still a few on the shelves and they are rocking.
