All of them. I know I'm in the minority, but man, I want to try them. I suppose this is only possible because I don't have a bunker, so it's only about 10-12.

I'm the same way. But it's more like 25 at the moment.

I usually have 3-5 going at a time so I can focus in on a bottle and really give it a "workout." I like to try most of my bourbons neat (unless they are barrel proofers), splash of water, on the rocks, in a manhattan, and in an old fashioned and make notes to try and get a good idea what pour is good for certain purposes. I have found my sweet spot to be with many low to middle shelfers. Thanks to this board I recently gave OGD BIB a good workout and after my "bourbon pentathalon" I was entirely impressed.

I've got about 60 bottles of nice whiskey open at the moment. About 60% is American whiskey, and 40% single malt scotch. I can never resist opening stuff. I could probably last two years just finishing off what I have open right now.

Not too many, 5 bourbons, 1 corn, 3 single malts, 3 Irish, 1 blended scotch, 1 blended Canadian. Covers the bases.

Right now I have about 16 bottles open. They're mostly whiskey I don't want to drink. Good whiskey doesn't last long in my household.

15-20. I'm still new at this and opening stuff to try it and then taste it next to other stuff. So far I haven't disliked anything.

I've hovered around 40 open bottles for a while. I like to have a good amount of variety available, but there are probably about 10 bottles that have a permanent presence on my bar.

12, that's what fits across the mantle. Allows for a good mix of choices....any more and i'd likely freeze up when deciding what to pour.

Couple dozen if you count the non whisky alcohol.

I haven't been here that long, but I'm pretty sure I can guess squire's open bottles.

10 VOB BIB, 8 OGD 114, 5 OGD BIB and... a Dolin vermouth. :)

Only about 5-6 at a time in my house. Maybe 10 at most if you count the non-bourbon stuff like vodka.

Wife starts to look at my cross-eyed when I start to try to 'bunker'. ;)

  • 2 weeks later...

Currently I have opened: 43 Bourbons, 4 Tennessee Whiskies, 2 Ryes, and a bottle of Bernheim Wheat.... plus assorted other stuff (rum, tequila, cordials, etc.); but this is the brown juice (I count scotch's and Irish as 'yellow juice'), and I don't really buy much Canadian. The reason for so many is; I like to taste a wide variety, and am usually anxious to sample whatever I buy, so it doesn't stay full for too long. Almost all of these are 3/4 full or more. Only about 4 or 5 are less than half full. I try to finish 'em soon after they drop below half.
