Gillman
I know this information has been posted before in different contexts, but now that the Festival is almost upon us, could those familiar with area liquor stores indicate a list of the ones in town that have a good bourbon selection.I recall last year, on the road that goes up from the tourist office towards the Old Kentucky Home area, finding a small store in a strip mall, it was on the left side of the road travelling in the direction I mentioned. This had a good selection but it was all behind the counter and not always easy to see everything (and linger some). Thanks for an update on the current choices in Bardstown.Gary
Paradox
The 2 places I remember off hand are: #1 - Toddy's just about in the middle of town. #2 - Kentucky Home Liquors by Walmart / Krogers. I stopped in many smaller stores around the area but there selections were very limited. Best bet may be some of the larger places like liquor barn but they are a drive away's from Bardstown... Gillman
Thanks Mark. I will have a car, so going out of town is do-able. Where is that Liquor Barn? I am looking on this trip for odd brands, like Fleischmann's Rye from Barton. But also for new brands, like Barton's new single barrel bottling. I have been in there but it seemed to only have fast movers, I didn't see any dusty forgotten stuff. I Think Toddy's #1 then Kentucky Home Liquors. Also I don't know the name of it but out by the Bluegrass parkway where Holiday Inn/Days Inn are is a fair store. There's a store in Shepherdsville ( If you go to Jim Beam in Clermont you are 9 miles from it) Turnpike Liquors X117 From I65. They had Evan Williams Distillers select , Jeffersons, The rest of the usual stuff 20 more miles north ( Fern Valley Road, go east) will put you at a Liquor Barn. Also in Btown there is a Sportsmans Liquor on Banjo street I don't even know where that is.
brendaj
Bobby, Also in Btown there is a Sportsmans Liquor on Banjo street I don't even know where that is.They also call it Stoney's Liquor & Bar. Don't bother...they don't have sh*t. Have you been to the Liquor Palace outside of Fern Creek yet? I pass it all the time, and keep meaning to stop.Bj
kitzg
Turnpike Liquors is carrying more and more. Since they moved (they used to be a lot smaller) they have more room. I have been there about every six weeks (I was there this weekend) and they know items I am looking for. It is convenient for me since I pass there on my way to Nashville, TN. It is two exist north of the Clermont Exit on I-65. For those of you who can't get Rock Hill Farms or Blanton's this is one place I stock up. However, I'll plan to hit Liquor Barn the Saturday of Bourbon Festival. Yes, Jo and I plan to drive down for Saturday. We can't miss Chuck's presentation!
