Paradox
Nope you're not the only one Jeff, don't worry I am not a fan of Knob Creek either. I will sometimes have a pour of it, but I much prefer Bakers and Bookers from the small batch lineup as well. And I will not even give my opinions on Basil Haydens
Paradox
I started the night early finishing off my bottle of Wild Turkey 12 year. I think it was Bobby who says this is his favorite pour in all fo the Wild Turkey line-up and I would have to agree. It has all the traditional WT flavor but in perfect balance. Too bad they didn't keep it here in the US even if only for a limited release every other year or something...Now I"m onto Jeffersons. Definately a step down from the WT haha, but still a decent bourbon. I paid $40 <I paid $30 CL pointed out my typo> in KY this year, and think it is more of a low to mid $20 bourbon really. Even though it is a relatively low 88 proof, it still comes through with some nice flavors and a decent finish.

CL
$40!!!??? For Jefferson's? I paid $29 in L'ville in August in a neighborhood store because Liquor Barn didn't have it yet.
Paradox
Opps, mistype CL haha. $30 is what it was in Bardstown during the festival... The Liquor Barn i went to still didn't have it in either. Actually Toddy's didn't when I got there. I asked Guthrie about it and he didn't know about it either. Well, that was solved the next day when he had bottles of it on his shelf and thanked me for pointing this bottling out to him.
ratcheer
I like KC the best, followed very closely by Booker's, with Baker's a distant third. I have never tried BH due to the constant stream of negatives about it on this board (plus, I prefer higher proof whiskeys).Tim
bobbyc
To me Basil Hayden's is an acquired taste. After that it's good , except the price and proof.
Buckky
I agree with you entirely...In my mind, Booker's is the very clear winner of the small batch collection...it is excellent...Baker's is very good with Basil Hayden an easy pour but a distant third and Knob Creek a distant fourth. Tonight I am having Old Overholt for the first time...interesting, reminds me of Canadian whiskey due to the rye...won't get it again though for a very long time. My next purchase may be Kentucky Spirit...
MurphyDawg
I have to agree about Knob Creek. good but not great. Bookers is better but too expensive! I have yet to try Baker's yet, will get around to it someday.TomC
robbyvirus
I like Knob Creek. A lot of bars around here carry it and Makers Mark as their "top shelf" choices, and I always go with the KC. I like Bakers too, Bookers a little less so, and I'm completely underwhelmed by BH.
CL
I like Baker's but here in NC it is $35. That's too much for me. I like alot more bourbons better at a lower price. However, I find Baker's alot in bars/restaurants, so I have it several times a year that way. I find it very satisfying taken neat in a snifter. jeff
The Red Wax Wonder Maker's Mark of course. Just got in from mowing the lawn and wanted a sip of something light and easy to drink. Maker's fits the bill for me. IMHO this is one of the better bourbons to drink during the day. Refreshing, clean-tasting and won't weigh you down like some of the heartier pours. Paradox
Away for the weekend in CT and I've been drinking Wathens at the pool for a while now. Glad I have a second bottle of this on the way with a Sams order, it is superb. Dessert after dinner? Nah, I'll have more Wathens!
SteelerFan
Old Grand-Dad 114 I like this pour because it has a long finish.
OneCubeOnly
Tonight it was two bourbons I hadn't tried before: Old Forester 86 proof and Ancient Ancient Age 10yo. Both of these surprised me as being better than their price. I need to spend more time examining them, but both are definitely bargain gems. ratcheer
I had OGD 114 last night, too. I have always liked it, but last night it was so good I am just about ready to proclaim it my number three favorite (current 1 & 2 are OFBB '89 anf Rare Breed). The 114 is so sweet and pleasant. Even straight. My bottle is almost empty and I will have to travel out of state to replace it, though. Even though I can buy the 86 at my local ABC'c. brendaj
Buckky, I agree with you entirely...In my mind, Booker's is the very clear winner of the small batch collection...it is excellent...Baker's is very good with Basil Hayden an easy pour but a distant third and Knob Creek a distant fourth. That's exactly the way I'd call it too. Only honestly, for the money, I'd just as soon have JB Black label, as any of the 4... Bj
bluesbassdad
Old Rip Van Winkle Old Time Rye 12 Year Old, while trying to regain my composure as I deal with the latest in a string of computer problems.I know this is the only bottle of this rye that I will ever have, and I'm not particularly sad about that. I think I slightly prefer the VWFR 13 y/o.If anything, the OT 12 tastes older to me than the 13 -- more wood/char notes, anyway, and not as spritely on the tongue.Yours truly,Dave Morefield
