Guess he can't publicly admit to a fondness for Bourbon.

No. Bad form old man.

Laphroig....just the thing to steel a man's nerve before he gets paddled by Camilla.

QC has some pretty polarizing opinions, just like the Triple Wood. I like them both, with more of a fondness for the TW. Neither is an improvement on the standard 10 year, or the delicious 10 year cask strength.

Has anybody tried the "quarter cask" version of this?

I find it somewhat fruitier than the 10 y/o expression. I like it, but 9/10 I reach for the plain ole' 10 year old botthe. To me, the QC just lacks that kick in the pants that I love about the original.

Polarizing indeed ...

I'll take the QC @48% abv - any day - over the 10yo @40% or 43%. The 10yo cask strength I've heard (never tried it) is a different animal altogether.

My drinking buddy got a bottle of the QC, he loves all Islays, but didn't care for it-- too ashy. We nicknamed it "Old Ashtray."

I liked it more than he did, but then again, he's never been a smoker.

The Laphroaig 18 yo is my absolute favorite Scotch.

Laphroiag QC is one of my favorites. Being bottled at 48% with no chill filtering is an added bonus! The pre-2009 Laph 10 Cask Strength was superior to the QC, but I like the QC over the new iteration of the Cask Strength.
