Dave_in_Canada
Just got back from a bourbon tour of KY. I was only able to bring 3 bottles back with me. I think I'll treat myself this coming weekend but would like some help deciding! Now, you can't vote more than once as you know, and no smart-a## answers like "Drink them all, man... Drink them all!" Thanks, my friends!
jeff
Absolutely the best of the three is the Eagle Rare 17yo. Thick and luscious with lots of caramel, vanilla and just a touch of barrel char. One of the best bourbons available IMHO.
Paradox
Eagle Rare 17YO got my vote as well. Absolutely wonderful!
OneCubeOnly
Open the Eagle Rare 17yo. Not that the others aren't worthy, but they're not quite as unique.
Barrel_Proof
ER 17 is living on borrowed time. Enjoy, then bunker another away, if you still can.
bobbyc
I'll have to run with the crowd here. Open the ER17 If you like it you can plot a course of action . The other 2 should be available until sometime in 2014.
Dave_in_Canada
I must admit, I bought the Blanton's for my wife because it has a pretty little horse on top.
kgiammarco
Definitely open the ER17 first, but try to savor it and finish it last ... I remember seeing blantons at a LCBO (?) store in niagra falls last year, so i assume you can get that more easily than the ER17 (which is limited anyway) -Chris
Buckky
Definately go with the ER17 first...then Blanton's then Russell's....I too would really savor the ER over many days...
robbyvirus
I ride with everyone else on this one...Eagle Rare all the way. It's one great bourbon! Not that the others aren't good too...
pepcycle
Dave, Forget that advice. Start with the Russell's Reserve, then the Blanton's and work your way up to the ER. Like a good sypmphony, you need to build to a crescendo. Now mind you, the average symphony should be completed in one, good long sitting.
Barrel_Proof
Ed, you cheated. He only wanted to open ONE! You dealt him Mozart; he asked for Bruckner.
pepcycle
Guilty as charged.
gr8erdane
I agree with you Ed except for one thing. When you sit down for a meal, you go appetizer, main course, dessert. Which in my book means Russell's Reserve, then ER17, then Blanton's IMHO.
Dave_in_Canada
LOL As a matter of fact, that is the same order I used, some months ago.
Jazzhead
The coolest thing about drinking whiskey to me, who grew up on two decades of nuttin' but beer, is that you can keep whiskey bottles open for years. If you really want to open up just one then it has to be the Eagle Rare 17 because that one's not long for this world so you have to know whether to get another. But whiskey keeps, so I'd open 'em up all at once, and treat 'em as three rounds. And then tell us fellow lush and flush compansions how they compare! :cool:I'd sample them WTRR, Blantons, Eagle Rare.
