Where to buy AAA 10 year near BT Distillery?

We'll be traveling through KY this summer and stopping for a tour at BT. What is the best/least expensive place to purchase AAA 10 year near that area?

I normally have a friend retrieve my order from TPS near Cinci when he visits his buddy from the military twice per year. Anyhow, I assume the AAA 10 year is distributed everywhere across the state, but wanted to confirm before backing my truck to the loading dock there.

You should be able to find AAA 10 year at most serious stores in Ky. I know for a fact that Eric stocks it at his store in Elizabethtown, Packages and More Liquors, and probably some of the stores in Bardstown do as well.

They had it at Red Dot Liquors in Frankfort a week ago. They stock a decent whiskey selection all around. Worth checking out.

Hey, DH. Based on recent reports here on SB regarding AAA's current and future scarcity, you might do some pre-work before you go, particularly if you're not going soon. Like pre-order, pay for, and have them hold it for you. It is possible the shelves could be bare by the time you get to the Motherland.

I would say closer to $40 than 30. Some places might be sitting on some older stock before price increases but I wouldnt count on it at any of the highly visible places with a good bourbon clientele.

Liters and 1.75s only at this point.

If you're at Buffalo Trace, when you exit the distillery you'll probably turn right, toward downtown Frankfort. Instead go left. In a short distance, there's a little liquor store on the right. They should have whatever Buffalo Trace product you need. You might think they get a lot of traffic from the distillery but they don't, since you pretty much have to know they're there. Good local color too.

I paid $33.99 at the Louisville Liquor Barn in March. Same price I paid last October at the Lexington LB. Still a great value.

I just visited BT this week. MyOldKyDram suggested Red Dot. I believe I visited all of the liquor stores in town...Red Dot (both stores), Ocean Breeze (the one Chuck suggested), Capital Cellars (downtown, another MOKD suggestion). I did not visit Johnnies on Holmes Street, although I drove by it. Red Dot on 127 had the largest selection and best prices in Frankfort. They were very friendly and helpful. Don't be fooled by the run down shopping center that it is located in. They had pretty brisk business during my two visits.

They had great selection of AA products including AAA10 in both 1 liter and 1.75 liter bottles. I purchased the 1 liter size. It was $21.99. They have a great selection of Old Fitz, Heaven Hill, Charter.

BTW, Frankfort is pretty easy to travel through. A lot of traffic but it is really difficult to get lost since there are just a few main streets in town. Frankfort isn't very big for a state capital.

still $20 a 750 at beverage world on dixie in louisville. other places have already raised the price to $25. bastards.

A retailer (and this is true of all retailers, not just booze) typically will raise prices on current stock when the replacement price goes up. It's likely these retailers are responding to a price increase from the distributor, who is responding to a price increase from the producer.

I can 100% verify a significant increase on AAA in both liter and 1.75 liter sizes in Kentucky in the past 60 days from the distributor.

Some stores will have more older inventory and may not adjust until they have to reorder.

We try to stock up on good sellers just before increases. Sometimes it's to keep prices lower and other times it's to slowly increase the price rather than increasing it 10-15% instantly. With AAA they were out of 750s leading up to the increase and move to liters.

However it is quite ironic that distributors very often run out of stock in the weeks leading up to a price increase and then the item magically appears in stock right after an increase. I have heard that often times a load containing those items is sitting in the parking lot "in transit".
