WarlKicken
HulloThere! Just thought I'd share a moment with you wonderful people. A few weeks back I posted about getting a decent line up added to my quite small selection in my room. It consisted of a bottle of W.L.Weller12, Makers Mark (standard), Jeffersons Reserve (my posh bottle) and a newly added bottle of Blanton's straight from the cask (my other posh tot). I recently went through the motions with Rum, which was explained and wanted to expand into the bourbon world in the same manner but correctly this time. I know my tastes but the lovely people on this forum added there two pence worth to get my mouth on track to a fantastic new world. Added to the above small collection, we're now looking at three new chaps to the party: Old Fitzgerald - What can I say about this little guy? Decently priced but utterly amazing to taste. This bottle is one that ambles up behind those that think 'more expensive bottle = better taste', taps them on the shoulder and looks disappointedly at that person whilst reeking of smugness. What a brilliant ale-like bottle, with a muddy coloured content that looks subdued with thickness in consistency. This is the best reasonably priced bottle o' bourbon I think I've tasted other than my stalwart 'Makers'. Stunned into silence I was with this little treat. Four Roses Single Barrel - Had the chance to give this little dame a whirl in a local gastropub that is secretly a devilishly decent whiskey bar (everything from bourbons, Japanese and Irish and the biggest list of Scotch I've seen outside a proper whiskey place...which my Dad thoroughly enjoyed for his birthday treat (my bank account however, did not)). This delicate little flower of goodness was smooth and subtle to me. I did really love it as a straight up sipper/ nightcap. Lovely drop this but entering into my personal upper echelons of price. Jeffersons Presidential Select 18yo - This bourbon inspired me to write this post. Need I say more. Opening the bottle I was smacked in the face with sweetness from the quite exquisite decanter style bottle with all it's charm and hint of age old with the metallic 'belt' around the neck and wax seal. I am going to out on a limb here; this might be the best bourbon I've ever tasted (to date ). It is pricey, granted....but there'll be no finger tapping on my shoulder from Old Fitz here. Utterly stunning in my mouth. Like having something massage my tongue whilst listening to what my brain likes and just hitting every synapse and sensor available to it. Sensory overload but to the absolute pinnacle of pleasure. I only had a 'nip' to taste it as well. I'm not sure the neighbours could put up with the pornographic moaning from the sheer ecstasy as I.m completely seduced by this caramel coloured concoction., if I were to have another glass. My thanks to anyone that posted on my initial plight. If there is anything else anyone can suggest I'd be appreciative but, for now....I've not experienced anything like the current selection and I have but you kind chaps to thank. Cheers!
