Meruck
you have a "fake" tax stamp used as a seal, as of July 01, 1985 the use of Federal Tax Stamps was discontinued, so its post 85, bottle date puts is post 86, no gov warning puts is pre Nov 18, 1989, and Mr. Louis L Goldstein's signature on the MD stamp puts it between 1959 and 1989 when MD stopped the usage of the stamps. The available information gives you a four year window 1986-1989 with an 87 and 88 being better candidates.

Is this true just for OF? or does it apply to other bottles (i.e., tax stamp, gov warning)? And where are you seeing the "bottle date" that suggests post 86? Meruck
all bottles all brands etc.The gov didnt just make OF use the stamps. The tax stamps changed over time and all by acts of congress so they are easy to track, The dates I cited are "law" acts of Congress. the bottle dates are just a clue. distillers typically didnt store bottles, but some did. Also the tax stamp is applied when it left the "bonded warehouse". So in theory, you could have a bottle date of 70, a distilation date of 75 and a tax stamp date of 80. Its the whole package that tells the story. Any one clue could lead you astray. The best ones are the pre Dec 01 1982 bottled in bond stamps. They just have the dates right there on them. Dec 82 is when that was discontinued.
