This could be a good idea for a xmas-time gift set. Mini bottles of all 10 recipes.

Now THAT is a great idea.

I've been trying to rally group in Austin to go in on a set together to spread some of the cost. I just need a couple more people willing to buy in.

I think all ten is too much for a sitting if you are actually "drinking" them.

You fellas aren't doing much to persuade me to restrain myself. The idea of having all ten so that I could play with my own blends is pretty interesting. It's like Jim Rutledge fantasy camp - the home version.

I really wish the FR distillery would sell a gift pack of 10 mini's.

I think I have around 12 or 13 bottles of OESK...that should hold you over for at least a couple trips! ;)

I had the same thought, as I've got three FR1B bottles, but can't make the budget stretch for the additional 7. My recommendation - get to Bardstown (either KBF or Sampler) and create a sign-up sheet for volunteers to bring one or more bottles (just so you can keep track of what is already coming). I thought about "If someone had all 10 options, what would I be willing to pay for 1/2 ounce pour tasting of all 10?" (long tasting night!) I think that would easily be worth $30 - $40 (based on tastings I've been to in Atlanta which give you far less). You'd have something like 48 of those tastings available. If you sold just 18 flights, you'd cover the cost of the 10 bottles, and have more than a half bottle of each left. Or get 10 friends, $55 each and a LOT of small bottles, and just split them up

I would bet you might could find that many participants at the Sampler or KBF who would volunteer to bring a bottle or two, and with any luck - get the complete line-up on the table at once.

Springing for the 10 bottles at $500 would save you $2,000.

See, if you find a place that serves all 10 as a flight of 1/2 oz pours it will probably cost $30 plus tip, say $5, and excess transportation expenses I will conservatively estimate at $15. That is $50 for about 1/50 of a bottle of each, and you know that 1/2 oz of each on a single occasion will not be nearly enough to satisfy your curiosity. So ultimately you are unnecessarily paying at a rate of $250 per bottle ($2,500 for 10), and $500 plunked down now must be recorded in the books as a $2,000 savings, minimum, not to mention the convenience, vatting options, and various intangibles gained. As a bourbnancial adviser, I must caution you that you’d be a damned fool not to do it.

Oh, man! There's my Christmas Gift theme - Four [dozen] Roses for everyone! Just have to add the YL and SmB.

You could always grab all of the OE's or the OB's, that way it's only $250, and you'll still get an idea of the yeast influence.

Bob made a couple of great points while sharing his ridiculously good FR stash last weekend: 1. it really comes down to barrel selection, and 2. the OE's may give you a better understanding of each yeast, because they don't have as much spice from the higher rye content, which may conceal some of the finer nuances.

Overall, I think FR does a good job directing you with the neck tag recipe descriptions. K's are fruity, Q's are floral, F's are herbal, etc.

Any chance you'd be willing to get on a conference call with my wife and I? How official do you sound? Can you send me this advice on some formal-looking stationary maybe?
