Eagle Rare

I'm about 1/3 way into my first bottle of Eagle Rare. Still can't quite get used to the nose.. I don't know why but it kinda reminds me of Scotch on the nose.

Anyways I was looking at the bottle and I noticed it looks a little different from pictures I found on the web. Most notably it's missing "single barrel" indication on the label. I don't know if there was a change in the design or there are different variety of Eagle Rare? I'm attaching a picture I just took with my cellphone camera.

Interesting. I saw this today and noticed that the bottle had changed, but didn't notice the lack of single-barrel. I guess the bottle I bought recently (which I'm not huge on tbh) is a neo-dusty.

The bottle in the picture is the new label. I think BT changed the label some time earlier this year. I haven't had any ER for a while, but have seen it in the store. I think the description of the nose is spot on. Another SBer described it a burnt rope.

I've always found ER to be a quality bourbon at a very reasonable price. I just forget about it for some reason. Might have to rectify that today.

I thought it was on the neck as well but i could be wrong. New bottle is sharpe, but the dark label on the back gives somewhat of a false impression on the color of the bourbon in the bottle.

Strange; I was just in the liquor store today and noticed the new label bottles, and they DO say Single Barrel, as shown in this pic:

I would guess, and it is only a guess, that taking single barrel off the label and putting it only on the neck band would make it less noticeable if they did decide to drop the single barrel designation at some point in the future. Maybe they ran out of old labels and decided this was the time to make the change. Since the age statement appears to also only be on the neck band that could fade away with less fanfare as well if they decided to do so. Certainly wouldn't come as a big surprise in the current environment.

I checked at a liquor store last night. The one in front said "Single Barrel" only on the neck. The 5 behind it said it on the label as well. That's really strange that they would remove that, since I'd think it'd be a big selling point.

I bought one bottle in Feb. at the Tucson Total Wines and the other at the Louisville Costco. (Don't know which is which.) Both are 10 YO Single Barrels but the labels are different. The black back label, instead of silver, makes the bottle less transparent and less attractive IMHO. But SB is still there on both.
