So I'm headed to the Bonnaroo music festival next month and the rules state that there are to be no glass bottles and all alcohol must be in a factory sealed container. So that means I'm looking for bourbon in plastic bottles.

Ancient Ancient Age in the 1.5L comes in plastic. Is that my best bet?

I suppose it depends on what you like. If you like Ancient Age; go for it. Maybe you can even get the 90 proof version. In Louisville, you can probably find most of the popular brands in plastic. Evan Williams also comes to mind. I recently saw some half pints of Old Grandad Bonded in little plastic bottles.

If you can get a replacement cap just buy whatever and dump and refill with something else.

I went to Bonnaroo in '09. We flew into and out of Louisville and spent some time in Kentucky afterwards. First stop after we landed was Liquor Barn on Fern Valley Road where I bought some ORVW 10/107 (VW on the shelf down the road from the L'ville airport... Different times.) We poured it into an Evian bottle. No one bothered us on the way in. I have never enjoyed bourbon more than I enjoyed that bottle.

Timothy's suggestion is better if you can pull it off, but maybe just make a better bottle choice than me, fill up some plastic iced tea bottles with bourbon?

Another Bonnaroo story: as we were going in, I watched a hippie stealing back all the glass-bottled beer that was being confiscated from his friends' motor home. Later on I saw him next to some religious folks who were there protesting, dancing and selling his beer - advertised as "liquid sin." Bonnaroo's a ton of fun, I'm jealous. Have a good time!

Interesting. I didn't know those existed. Y'all who buy whiskey from unknown sources need to keep this in mind. :skep:

Any internet site that sells bottles has these or clear ones as well. I ordered some 2 oz bottles for samples and they came with them. Just use a blow dryer to shrink them down.

My thoughts exactly; provenance accounts for a lot.

Ancient Age ten star and or OC 101. Hands down some of the best bourbon on the market, plastic bottle and good price regardless.

the thought of consumable alcohol kept in a plastic bottle always unsettles me. I mean, if i were to do what youre doing, and put some booze into a plastic bottle and take it to a show with me, id be fine with it. but the idea of those bottles of plastic holding alcohol for months or years seems scary to me.....i mean, alcohol is a solvent and plastic can be leached, probably even contains the BPA everyone freaks out about.....which would likely leach quicker in alcohol than the water thats usually in plastic bottles

but, thats just me.

Life presents me with some large issues and the container that hold's my Benchmark isn't on my 'be concerned about' list.

I think BPA is pretty low on the list of concerns for adults. If you shower with chlorinated water, you breathe a very small amount of chloroform. The dose makes the poison, and you'll die of alcohol poisoning WAY before you drink enough to suffer any ill effects from anything leached out of the plastic.
