I'm likely headed to Baton Rouge and NOLA this weekend (I like to make a semi-annual gluttony pilgrimage) and was curious if anyone had any suggestions on interesting liquor stores (or bars as well, for that matter) along I-10 where I might find something unique and/or dusty. Obviously they sell liquor at every gas station so it's extremely hard to know where to stop.

Also, does anyone know what's available in LA right now? For example, to my knowledge the 2013 FR1BLE isn't out in Texas (I haven't seen it yet) but if it were available in LA I'd look for it.

Feel free to PM me if you don't want to share for general viewing.

Thanks guys!

The 2013 FR1BLE has come and gone from NOLA and BR about a month ago. I only know of two places that got any. You're welcome to stop by my place and try some. Bar Tonique, Cure, and Avenue Pub (upstairs) will also have it.

+1 for Bar Tonique. That place is RAD. They love booze so much, that despite the big challenges of getting it, they use Rittenhouse rye AS THEIR WELL!!!!!! Best Sazerac ever too.

PLus one for Avenue Pub. A world class beer bar AND a whiskey list that is quite impressive. You dont see both in one place very often.

In fact, I have never been anywhere else that had Cantillon, the entire antique collection, and multiple single oak/experimental bottles available.

Thanks for the tips gentleman. I'll make an effort to visit both. Both look excellent and I haven't hit them up in the past.

DBA on frenchman had some good pours, a couple Willets etc last October when I was there for my 30th. Sazarac Bar in the Roosevelt Hotel was sorta a disappointment.

In Baton Rouge for the first night. Went by the cove and tried a glass of the 4R Mariage '09 and WT Tribute. Damn fine stuff both. The 4R was more complex while the Tribute was an excellent, sweet, and smooth example of the WT style. I will say I think I like WTAS more, but I'm a sucker for the mint tones.
