FR 1B LE's are scarce and typically run $60-$70. The 1B private selections are barrel strength single barrel bottlings and at least at TPS are $49.99. What am I missing here in chasing the LE's. Is it more age? Mr. Rutledge's personal selection? Why not just buy the private selections from TPS/Binny's etc and save the hunt for the SmB LE's which have no approximate equal?

There's a little more age on the LEs, generally. That and Mr. Rutledges SOA. About it I reckon. Definitely more into the SmB LEs, here.

I guess really Mr. Rutledge's selection. That being said, typically the giftshop has one or two Rutledge selections at any given time for around $60. Maybe that's the best of both worlds.

I'm a big fan of 4R stuff, SB and SmB, so count me in for anything I can get my hands on.

I'm rarely disappointed by whatever FR pour I reach for but I am maybe spoiled by the quality of the private selections I drink, and I generally reach for them over the LE's. The exception of course is the LE small batches. I find the '08 and '09 Mariage and '12 LE small batch releases to be in a league of their own just by the nature of them being such fantastic vattings.

The 3 you mentioned were all awesome and SMB LE's. For the SB LE's i personally think the track record is slightly less successful. Dont get me wrong, im getting some of the 2013 but I'm gonna taste before I go nuts. Next years SMB... I'm just gonna go nuts :woohoo:

The LEs are an arm and a leg out here, $87 is the cheapest I could ever find. I bought a 2012 but I'm passing from now on. It's no better than the other FR private selections, and I like the tasting the odd duck recipes better.
