Jackinbox
I received my Ambassador kit in the mail today. There's a reference to another distiller that I can't figure out who they're talking about:"For example, there's one distiller who ships extra barrels of their regular bourbon up to a different location then puts it in a fancy bottle with a fancy name and sells it to folks for twice the price."Anyone know who they're talking about? mosugoji64
I believe they're referring to Brown-Forman and Woodford Reserve.
Balcones Winston
There's this other distiller who adds a few extra barrel staves to their regular bourbon then puts it in a fancy bottle with a fancy name and sells it to folks for twice the price. BigBoldBully
If they are talking about Woodford, doesn't that misleadingly omit reference to the pot still portion? (If so, that makes Winston's hypocrisy jab all the sharper, given that adding barrel staves is arguably less of a modification than vatting with pot still whiskey). There is also a distiller that diluted its bourbon more than before, explaining it was doing so solely to spread it into more bottles and lessen supply problems, yet without selling it to folks one red cent cheaper than the less-diluted bourbon it had already been selling them for an unmerited premium. HighInTheMtns
I hate to defend one distiller defaming other distillers, but OF Sig is pretty great and costs less than WR. Everyone go buy some and let this backfire on MM.
squire
That's an odd take on it, reputations are made on the strength of one's own product, not by criticizing others.

It just may not be the reputation they had in mind.
squire
If their whisky is in such demand as to be in short supply why say anything?
