Had this emailed to me today while researching Wild Turkey 12 bottles.

Im nervous what the price is going to be as it has to be shipped from another country, but very intrigued. No info online. Might just be WT12 with another year, I do not know. It has both Jimmy and Eddie Russel on it, maybe a joint barrel choice from the two.

and why oh why do we not get any of these in the US.... so depressing.

I don't think that we're missing out on much in the USA. This runs about $60 and is only 91 proof. Considering that the 12 year old is 10 proof points higher and much less expensive, I see this as a step in the wrong direction. Further, it appears that WT 12 will become a limited release and the 13 year will take its place in the standard (Japanese) lineup.

interesting, from whom/where did you get that info. Good to know though, I might just get a couple 12's while I can, should be receiving final price tomorrow.

After inwardly groaning for a while about their decision to make a lot of what is apparently their best stuff unavailable in the country of production, my attitude suddenly changed to "Hey, if that's how they want to be, why should we even want to reward them with our $$$? We don't really need em, after all. Eff, em. Give em the bird (back)!"

Ahh, thank you walker, much appreciated.

and BigBold, I agree, and I wish I could live with that sentiment except it is one of my favorites.

WT 101 and WTRB are two of my favorite bourbons, WTR 101 was one of my favorite ryes. But it would seem WT is getting out of the bourbon\whiskey business and into the water shipping business. The day they cut the proof on WT 101 and\or WTRB is the last day I buy a bottle of their product.

While I vastly prefer the 101, the proof cut isn't too bad - it's on par with the current RR selections (minus the current SB selection), which are good. If someone gets a bottle, please crack it open and let us know how it is.

Assuming it is better, it makes marketing sense to me. Japanese appreciate fine whiskey and have $$ to pay for it. USA market hasn't always been that supportive of some of the better WT offerings.

More new Wild Turkey product is on the way. Being bottled now is "Forgiven", a "very limited release" blend of bourbon and high-proof rye. The story is that Eddie ordered some high proof rye pumped into a tanker for bottling. The tanker filled much to fast and they discovered that it already was mostly full of WT bourbon. Eddie was pissed. But .. after tasting .. thought it was darn good juice .. so ... (drum roll, please) .. all was "Forgiven".

Juice is 91 Proof, 78% Bourbon & 22% Rye Blend. Taste Profile: Creamy vanilla and oak, with a peppery, cinnamon finish. Opens up bold and finishes smooth ... those words from WT. Should be at some distributors in August ... look for it on the shelves likely in September.

But wait ... there's more ...

Wild Turkey 101 Rye is also being bottled now and should be available on about the same timetable. Will be available in liters only. This should now be available on a regular basis. (Paul, this one's for you!)

Well, hmmm.

I hope the new-version WTR101 is the same as the old version. Sadly, I wouldn't be surprised if it's been changed.

Well . . . good, as Forest Gump would say. With results that favorable it looks like a logical way to stretch out their Rye supply.
