Appears the Maker's shortage is real...

In my region, MM has dropped in price within the last year. It was $22-25, and now is $18.99 (750ml). It seemed to swap prices with OWA, right before the Weller lines dried up here.

I believe regular MM 1.75L runs around $45 and MM46 750 mL around $40 in the Indy area. I really don't pay attention other than when it is on an aisle display.

Regular makers 1.75. Mm46 is about 37 per 750.

Suntory is about to pay 13.5 billion for beam. I would imagine price increases will be a regular occurrence until global demand for bourbon starts to decline.

Beam already changed its pricing structure in KY for 2014 before the deal was announced. Price increases were minimal but they did away with "free" goods for higher volume sellers. They also lowered the case levels to get the top level pricing. It means that I don't have to buy 150-200 cases of beam at a time but I have to raise my prices slightly to make the same margins.

Makers officially sponsored Justified last night and had 3-4 commercials going during it. One of them telling us how "sponsoring events" doesn't matter, hahaha.

It's too bad there's no stock left for them to sell on this incredible marketing push.

I still like the stuff...really like MM 46. Everything goes in cycles. Beam was and still is the favorite target of bashing...including Maker's. Throw Brown-Forman in there too. BT was up until 2 years ago the sainted distillery. Now look what we are getting from them..including deception (8 and 6 instead of 8 years and 6 years). At least Maker's came out and told you they were going to lower MM to 84 proof.

BT I think is the real villain in the bourbon industry..between fanning the flames of BTAC (I think they intentionally kept stocks of BTAC low to drive the demand..Jason Pyle also wondered out loud about that)..and PVW insanity and now with deception. Weller 12 is the only thing I buy from them only because it is so good. When they take that away I will wash my hands completely of them.
