T Comp
Wild Turkey 101. Hadn't had this in some years and was much impressed by the current iteration. Rye-forward, on the dry side, synergistic with rocks to the max. A classic.Gary I just had some WT 101 last night, albeit from a 2005 bottling, but already this was a few years into the nas label. Poured a current Barton 6 year and HH 6 year BIB for comparison. The WT was my winner based on its noticeable wood vanilla, lacking in the others. The back end char on the WT was also more balanced and subtle, at least on this night .

High rye mashbill and 100 proof. Or spend about $15 more And grab a barrel strength private selection. That will get your proof # up there for about $50. RT Fan
Not too much of late as it has been really hot, too hot to drink bourbon for me. So a splash of OWA Antique after dinner the other night, just to remind myself how good it is & while out to dinner with the wife at a nice restaurant, a Gentleman Jack Ginger Julep, while not bourbon it was rather refreshing, although a little fussy. clingman71
After numerous ETL tribute pours last night, today's theme is wheat. Started with a warm up pour of the Blend, and now Pappy 20. If my memory is correct, the last time I poured this was May '12, the night before our wedding. Always great, tonight the nose is particularly special, loads of brown sugar. sutton
More Old Heaven Hill BiB (Gold Label) - I'm really enjoying this bourbon; it seems to really benefit from just a few drops of water. It is Bernheim (DSP-KY-1) and bottled at the old distillery (DSP-KY-31). The water really brings out the sweet caramel/vanilla but also brings out a nice round fruitiness on the mid-palate. Anyone know how old this bourbon is? I would assume for the price, 4 years and a few seconds, but for $10 this is such a great value. We don't get this back home and I'm traveling on business; think I'll pick up more before I head home.

Kalessin
Hot & humid in New England; yet another week-long heat wave.I remembered an old posting I made about Four Roses Yellow Label and how it should be a good lightweight summertime bourbon. So I visited Sav-Mor on the way home from work and picked up a bottle (at $16.99, it's not tough to buy; this is normal pricing for MA).Poured onto ice, it did very well. After so many months of drinking higher-proof bourbon at home, this is the first 80-proofer I've had here in a long time. I do wish it were available at a slightly higher proof, perhaps at the 86 strength so recently abandoned by OGD.
