i refuse to pay over $50 for anything.....anything.

even if i saw a $200 bottle of something for $60, im not going to buy it. too much to spend on 750mL of anything, and i refuse to be a profiteering dick. id leave it for someone who would enjoy it (and hopefully not a profiteering dick)

The RB is barrel proof. Can't get any higher than that. Higher proof doesn't mean it's better. It's just that barrel proof means it hasn't been cut with water which usually leads to more flavor.

i know that, thats why i said id love it if they ever came out with a 125WT. i know they barrel at lower proof. in general though, i personally think higher proofs have better taste

I don't know. Most think that lower entry proof produces better whiskey. Everyone is different though.

Edit: ...but proof can still go up while in the barrel :)

My friend brought me a bottle from a startup distillery in Colorado. It's whitedog the distillery is planning on turning into "bourbon", even though it's 100% barley. Tastes like mostly fusel alcohols.

Going to go make a nice pour of Baby Saz to wash the nastiness away.

Thought Bourbon needed to be at least 51% corn?

Ritt BIB, the new stuff from DSP-1. I'm not comparing it side by side with DSP 354, but standing alone it sure tasted fine by me.

Followed it up with some Weller 12, and just in case anyone was wondering, Weller 12 is still quite excellent bourbon.

That's why I called it "bourbon". Not sure if the distillery really said that or if my friend just misheard. Either way, based on the distillate I'm not getting my hopes up that barrel aging will make a good whisk(e)y of any sort.

The CEHT SmB BIB is pretty tasty. Def prefer it over the SB expression.

Couple of mint juleps with WR. Finishing the might with an SB blend 3:1:0.5 OWA:W12:FRSB.

Had some Ritt DSP-1, followed by RRSBSB and an OWA/Weller Special Reserve blend I made out of two opens I had laying around last night. All good to great in their own respects.

I enjoyed a number of bourbons, especially ones that were new to me, this past weekend at the Old Owl Tavern while staying down at the Beaumont Inn in Harrodsburg, KY. We hoisted some Elmer T. Lee in honor of his passing, of course. I really liked the Smooth Ambler Very Old Scout 14 yr. -- mature, but not a wood bomb; very nice spice. Also tried Town Branch (all green apple), Old Bardstown (no complaints!), Jefferson's Reserve and something labelled as Jefferson's Reserve VOB, which I would *guess* is simply Jefferson's Bourbon. And I got to turn an old friend who now lives in NC on to Four Roses Single Barrel, which he totally loved.

Weller SR, tried this a few times now, never had the age stated version but this one always comes across as young and green to me, a mixer vs. a neat pour as I have had several neat and it is nothing like the W12 which I love neat. 11 bucks a bottle so I'll keep it on hand for visitors that want a mixer. My 4R Smb is now well on its way to being empty.

I brought a bottle of OGD 114 on vacation to the outer banks. Just mark me down for that for the rest of the week. :)

After a wonderful dinner of Long Island duck, I needed something to cut through the fat, so a Weller 12 neat was called upon as the relief pitcher.

I couldn't hold out any longer. This sucker has been waiting almost 20 years to be opened.

I'm all for saving stuff for a special occasion, but today was special enough for me.

Larceny, backed by another. I'm warming to this puppy, but it's taken almost 1/2 a bottle, darn it! I was worried that wheaters just didn't fit my profile, but now I believe there is a place for 'em.

I had 2 small pours or 1 big pour of PVW15 left. Opted for the big one obviously
