Had my father over this evening for a little impromptu tasting,WTRRSBSmB,WT8,WTRB,GTS and CEHT "Tornado".Needless to say the '08 GTS was the clear favorite of the night with the WT8 coming in a distant second, but still a fine pour in its own right. On an added note the RR came in dead last, just goes to show........:cry:Tried to stay with a Turkey theme but that damn BT was calling my name.

Moved on to Parker's Heritage 6. One of my favorite pours for sure. I haven't been able to grab a GTS for home but for the high octane releases I can actually get for a fair price this one rates highly.

A little WSR7, finishing off this bottle before the move to a new house. Lots of bottles to move, trying to get rid of as many lightly filled ones as I can.

Started with AE and finishing it off with three different ETL barrel picks. Should be an interesting night!

How did the ETLs stack up? I got my Whisky Advocate this week and read John's review on the Capital City Package's barrel select. Curious how the others compared.

I've been putting a dent in the David Nicholson. Is it exactly the same as Old Fitz? I can't really say, as I haven't tried any Old Fitz recently. Also, I've revisited some VOB lately.

Last night:

1. WSR (tasting this bottle for the 4th time and have been open 6 months or more, still not enjoying it)

2. WSR7 (just ok. Not something I'd reach for. Guess this bottle will be open a while)

3. WSR7 older bottle style with older label from mid 2000s (just great stuff! Superior mouthfeel and flavor to the other two! Glad I have more in the bunker)

4. EWSB 1997 (just bought this the other day and wanted to try it. I have found that I like EWSBs just ok. I've tried 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002 and they are all ok but none of them really sang to me)

5. Finished the night with a pour of ECBP 137 proof (just an amazing pour and value!)

I agree with this assessment. I was very happy to find the technically dusty WSR7, but it is not a strong pour. I love Antique and W12, but I had trouble even putting a dent in my WSR7. I guess I'll live to drink another day.

Having some Michter's 10y SB. I have a hard time believing this is a 10y bourbon, looks and taste more like a 15y bourbon. I like it.

This isn't meant as a jab, but why is a 10yr bourbon being marked up to that $? Is it the lineage/source or just branding. I saw one last week or so for the first time in person and couldn't understand the gap between this and the other similar aged products selling for 1/3 the price.

Considering this new company has no lineage and their source is probably one of the ones selling for 1/3 the price marketing seems the likely suspect.

I love going to relatives house with stashes they don't know about

Not going to lie, I think about this everytime I visit a relatives place. OK, I think about this anytime I visit a home that is not mine.

I'm a big fan of EWSB and HMSB. I don't know why it's marked up so much, but if I want it that's what I have to pay for it.
